How to measure for clearance
Of my pipes. I keep wanting to put air ride on here and know its gonna be awhile so now i just want to put maybe 2" drop springs on her. Talking to flynlow he has the dropzone coils with a 3" exhaust and has no problems. What i'm worried about is the exhaust going over the axle looks liek it would be crushed if the car was slammed 2". But i loaded up some crap and peopel in the back and managed to get a 2" lower with the weight and then bounced the back end and it didnt seem to hit the pipe. Is there any for sure way to measure the travel if my pipe will get smoked or if it will be ok to lower it. Thanks

I'm running 3" an am lowered 1.5" in the rear. You could saw your bumpstops off, bottom out the rear and you wont crush the pipe...well at least I havn't

cutting the bumpstops is just going to allow you to have some suspension travel. Otherwise with a 2" drop you're not going to have any cause you'll be sitting on them.

I havent really got a good luck at the setup but how did you go about cutting off the bumpstops and where are they?

I used a grinder to cut the bumpstops. When you do cut them make sure you still cut them on an angle like they were originally designed. Yer not cutting them totally off. If you have to totally remove them to get 1" of clearance then yer too low and yer screwed.
The front bumpstops are located on the front part of the lower control arm. The rear bumpstops are located on the uni-body directly over the axle on both sides.
I would install the springs and let your car down to see how much clearance you have and then cut them after so you have at least 1" of clearance(which really isn't enough for city driving but it's a bare minimum). Don't want to cut too much at the same time!
