My non-1LE rear discs had a small spacer per side. Do the PBR brakes also have these or should I simply ignore them?

I have no spacers on mine, and everything fits fine. 87 (I think - 1 stripe) IROC wheels.

If you are talking about the .187 thick spacer on the rear and you now have disc brakes just get rid of them. They were used on early drum brake cars with 16" aluminum wheels. If thats what you have just sell them on e-bay.

The spacers have been a topic before. I had four-wheel discs "with" the spacer. GM....

My '88 non 1LE rear discs had no spacer. As you know I have them now. If you dont' want your spacers, I'll take them tho.

Ed and al.,

I finally completed the swap today. While the brakes and e-brake function fine (all was set up according to the manual), there's a bit of slack, say, two rachet clicks of the cabin's e-brake lever, before there's any tension and, of course, before the e-brake functions. I wonder if the 1434 cables are a bit longer. Any advice?

Did you try to tighten it up by adjusting the mechanism under the car in the trans tunnel? On your '85, it should look like this. Just tighten the nut until you like it. I had to go about an inch to get mine tight. You can see the clean threads where I made my adjustment:

Ed,

Are you saying you're currently using spacers on your rear discs?

Why are you using the drum brake spacers on 9-bolt disc rear???

Oddly enough, they were on the '89 disc rear I installed, so I just put them on. I'll probably take them off next chance I get though.

Ed,

Your suggestion about tightening the e-brake up worked well. I'll post pics of my transformation in the next few days (I hate reading and gathering parts all winter, only to finish the project in a blink of the eye!).
