qa1's are on..

they work and feel terrific, probably helps with the air as well though. should have some pictures up of the struts themselves in a week...
unfortunately you cannot use your stock mounts with them though as the shaft is alot shorter then stock.

As always, your car looks absolutly amazing!:hail:
When you said, "probably helps with the air as well though." What did you mean? Air suspension?
What did you have to do to get them to install? Are they coilovers?
Great stance!!!

pretty right about that camber, that's as low as i can go without modifying the inner fender which i'd rather not. plenty enough for me.
as far as the air comment what i meant was that some of the ride quality has to be attributed to the air bag on the strut. i no longer have coilovers. i tried them but it was pretty much a pita to adjust for me and i couldn't really get the right adjustments i wanted out of them. i had always wanted to do air ride but every car i drove was pretty sloppy back in the day with handling. the air struts with the new qa1 12 ways were just a bolt in setup much like coilovers only easier since you don't have a spring to play with.
i have the struts set at about 6 which is middle of the road, haven't had alot of time to play with the settings but i will here in the next few days. there are plans to make an extended shaft version for our cars but i have no idea when they will be out. unfortunately as it sits right now this type of setup is more for those who are going coilover conversion or your willing to custom make your own strut mounts.
nothing is ever easy is it....

just to show what i'm talking about....you can see the shaft has to be significantly shorter then normal i'll get some better pictures in time but this will do for now.
Well usually when people run air suspension, they have a control box with psi guages and controls that they use to make adjustments. A large number of these control boxes have a "baseline" ride height that you can always get back to by pressing a button. So people usually set that baseline at their desired street driving ride height, and then thats the height they get the alignment set at. When you change the ride height after getting that alignment, yes it will change. But as long as you go back to the baseline height then the alignment will be good. Some guys I know have control boxes that have multiple buttons you can use for pre-set ride heights. So instead of changing it manually every time, they set one for laying frame, one for slammed but can still drive, one for speedbumps, etc. And some of them even have digital guages for the psi the system is running at. I'm getting ready to do a older S10 truck pretty soon so I'm already planning out the suspension setup (and rest of the components) hehe. Your system sounds badazz Jeff. How does it feel when you push it in the turns? I think my 91 will be about as low as yours soon (got those 2 in drop spindles) but its going to be static ride height! Yikes! Lucky for me its becomming a weekend only car soon. hahahah
it rides incredible....the ride height is obviously adjustable in lbs with the bags. the more pressure the more supportive it gets. having 4 way allows for 0 air transfer so you don't get any slop/sway from side to side. having the qa1's is really nice because of the 12 way adjustment which helps setup the strut as well so coupled with the right air pressure the car feels as firm or better then the older suspensions i ran. i'm running 3/8" lines which are plenty thick enough for me as the rise time is under 2 seconds as well as drop. i have the ride pro e with the digital guages and controller which works really well but i think i'm going to put in some analog guages as well since the digital guages seem to fluctuate by 5 psi as your moving which can be distracting.
this setup is controllable just as described above. i haven't learned how to program it as of yet but you can set it to the desired settings...roughly 6 right now....and with one touch of the separate remote control it will automatically do what you ask which is a very neat feature. anyhow the rest of the details are better suited for an air ride discussion.

you can pick up the rear bags for $300.
the front strut bags retail for $800.
the rest is only as expensive as you want it to be but it can range from min of 300-3000 for all the lines, compressor, tanks, guages, etc.
