Strut top mount bolt

Strut top mount bolt

I am trying to replace my struts and the top mount bolt and the stud both spin,any ideas?

Look at the top of the threaded rod. Either an allen wrench, torx bit or small open/box wrench will fit on that along with the large wrench on the bolt itselft. Twist oppositely.

They all should come with a allen or have flat edges to get a wrench on.

If anything get some vice grips and break the bolt loose. If you can't get a grip there, put the vice grips on the shiny portion of the strut under the boot in the fender. (that's IF you're not re-using the struts)

Been there

I had the same problem when I went to install my AGX's. What I did to solve the problem was to use a strap wrench from Sears and put it around the strut. Then used my impact wrench on the bolt. Worked pretty good for me. Let me know if you need any more help on that.

my were creaking horrible, but it sure made removal of old ones easier.
