Just go buy a 4th gen rearend. It'll be just a bit more than the spacers and you'll get better rear brakes along with quite possibly a better gear ratio and posi (if you don't already have it). That'll kick the tires out 1 5/8" on each side. That was my setup for a while til I went with 4th gen rims.

Otherwise, yes buy spacers.

Aero spoiler for sale...how much you want and where are you located? Shoot me a PM.

You will still have to buy spacers in order to use 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen rearend

No, you don't need spacers to run 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen rear. Unless of course, you know of somewhere that you can buy spacers, that make things thinner instead of thicker. I for one have never seen such a spacer.

You do however need spacers to run 4th gen wheels on a 3rd gen rear.

People put 3rd gen wheels on 4th gen rears all the time, to get that stupid silly r¡cer skateboard wheel effect. I laugh at it every time I see it. It looks ridiculous. Like a Suzuki Samurai with deep-dish chrome wheels on it. I would pay money to repair that defect, if I bought a car and it was equipped like that.

Going for whitewall low profile tires on 14" rims with gold spokes sticking out 3 inches?

Depending on how much you want to push out, you'll either need spacers or adapters.

other way around.

3rdgen rims on a 4thgen rear stick out.

they're not out beyond the fenderwell, but pretty close to the edge.

if it had more tire that went all the way inward, it wouldnt look bad.... from a front 3/4 view, the fenderwell looks full of tire........ except that from the rear it looks silly because its still only a 8" wide rim.

It depends on the wheel style.
Stock 16" with the rear offset sit pretty good, but 0 offset wheels like the fronts will stick out past the fender well.

Here are 2 examples,
LS1 rear with rear offset 16" GTA wheel,

LT1 rear with 0 offset (same front and rear wheel offset)

Well, you can't really swap the rears to the front, most cars will have issues with the inner lip of the rim rubbing on the tie rod ends.

I've always ran 4 front offset wheels, except for the last set of GTA's I had.

Here is what front GTA's look like all around,

and what it looks like stock,

i think it looks better with the tires out abit farther. it aint all that much farther. looks ok.

how much will that improve handling? by moving the rear track wider? i figured it would be a good improvement and cut out oversteer if the rest of the suspension is set up right

I had noticed a difference in handling. Seemed to stick better around turns, and that was with stock suspension. I no longer use 3rd gen wheels though so I can't make any comparisons now that I have everything else done.
