Spohn rear sb end links are long?

I'm just wondering why these are so much longer than the stock rear sway barend links. and is it going to be a problem on the install?

I also got the u bolts and saddles from spohn.. the 75 dollar kit and its heavy duty stuff. Its for a 3inch axle tube, and mine is a 10 bolt....probably 2-1/2 " axle.

The guy at spohn said just crank it down tight and it should work.

Has anyone had this situation, and could enlighten me about these parts and the install.

thanks

Why did you need the ubolt kit? These are for aftermarket rearends to my knowledge.

The rear SB endlinks are pretty long on mine, maybe... 6-8 inches ( havent been under there in a while)

I got the kit because two auto parts stores around here didnt have them . I needed the whole u bolt, saddle and bushing.., i dint feel like screwing with it so i went ahead and got it from spohn .besides it looks pretty cool, real hefty. Spohn said it would still work.

Yeah i found a picture just now of the end links installed. Looks like the sway bar will just rotate towards the ground and should be okay...Getting ready to get off work and go put it on, Adj panhard and LCA's if i get to those. i have a feeling the LCA's arent going to want to come off to easy.

I painted the rear end and sway bar with por15 last night, and had to wait for it all to dry. now looking at my car from the back, you see a nice shiney black rear, instead of an orange rusty one.

Probably would have saved some money getting them from a hardware store (not home depot, taiwanese junk bolts) but as long as you are happy

Dont forget to post some Pics

Cause the brackets lower the sway bar 1 inch lower than stock. Therefore, to keep the sway bar in proper alignment you need the longer end links.

Well I wasn’t happy with the price, I used a credit card ..lol…. but yeah I’ll take a pic when I’m finished.

I got the sway bar hanging in there now, but not fully torqued, and shes hangin pretty low..lol.

Although the car is on stands at the front of the lca’s and the rear end is just hanging. (slight support from a small jack). I think when the car is lowered back down the bottom of the sway bar will pivot up.

When should I fully tighten these parts? While jacked up like this, or fully loaded on the tires?

I imagine I should get the panhard bar adjusted correct to get the side to side thing correct, then tighten the sway bar down.

Whats the correct order and procedure here for tightening/ installing these suspension parts? OR does it even matter?

Thanks again guys the bird will be unveiled soon as I get it off these stands and clean it. And its gonna be Schawwweet !

I think it says in the instructions how to do everything.

But since I'm replying anyways, the way that you have it listed is the way I'd do it.

Whew what a long night of laying under the car turning wrenches in contorted positions..Dude ! my body is aching today. Heres what I did, centered the sway bar to the axle and tightened the 3” ubolts , a bit of concern here with the smaller axle tube..basically the brackets are only making contact at top and bottom, …then the end links which binded like hell, so I lowered the rear end and they fell into place. tightened the end links.

Then I carefully greased the panhard bar ends and jammed one end into place. And oh yeah was it a tight fit. Had to beat it with a hammer. Then the other side was even tighter and the hole wouldn’t line up. Frustrated !, a brilliant idea came to me , jack up the rear end ! and then the holes came into alignment.

Now I’m on a roll and decided to tackle the LCA’s. The bolts were a bit of a bitch, but I still removed and replaced an LCA with a spohn adj version in about 20 minutes.

Then I realized….i completely forgot about the Lca relocation brackets…lol. So I unpackaged them and to tell you the truth I’m not sure how these 2 bolts for each bracket are suppose to work I didn’t get instructions.. Time to search the board for pics of a bracket installed. One screw looks brass and the other steel with a sleeve in it.

I got it all together and took it for a spin. Feels pretty tight back there !!! with the sportlines in the back now, its not much lower than the sagging original springs were. In the end the top of the sway bar is flush with the bottom of the differential. not to shabby.

Time to do the fronts next.
