if you go with a higher series of tire.....to keep my car at normal height with 18's I had to have a 45r up front and 35r in the rear.....I guess we'd have to know how wide you want to go too

they are 8" wide wheels, so I'm guessing like 255's all around...what size shoudl I get if I want to raise the car up? I want some meaty tires with some sidewall, i hate people with big rims, and really little rubberbands on them...

get like a 245 45 18 and that will be taller, i have a 245 40 18 in the front and its stock size. i think a 245 50 18 would be way too big .

No you guys keep up on your cars, like checking air pressure and stuff...my buddy was too cheap and put 17's on his new grand am, with the skinniest sidewall tires i've ever seen...the wheel well gap was BIGGER than stock, and he always ran them with low air so it looked like the rim was resting on the pavement..those are the cars I hate....i haven't seen a thirdgen with super skinny sidewall tires
, wait I take that back, I saw one with 20s that was really skinny, but the majority of them, even the ones with the 20's still have enough meat on them...
mr. iroc, your car is friggen awesome...good work...how much is that dropped? looks great. Are those custom stretched wheels or did you buy them somewhere...so you guys think 245/45 is the way to go?

If your car has 245/50-16's then 245/45-18's will raise the car 1/2"
Your going to need a 245/50-18 or 275/45-18 for a 1" raise. Good luck finding tires in those sizes.

245/45's will only raise the car 1/2".
Rim size doesn't matter, it matter how tall of tires you put on the rim.

Looks like you got an IROCZ, like me. The factory tire size is P245/50R16. The tire diameter is: 25.67"... If you want to raise the car up 1" (which I question) you will need a tire diameter around 27.6" to 27.7". Checking thru the 18s, there is no good choice at that diameter. Howver, to raise the car 1/2", the P245/45R18 is at 26.65" diameter. BUT, you will be rubbing and the speedo will indicate a wrong speed.
The proper way to raise your car is with different springs. I recommend that you forget about bigger diameter tires and but new springs that will raise the car 1".

well this question was just outta curiousity..so i'd be pleased with even a half inch...its just the exhaust touches once in a while if i dont' pay attention...but nothin major...
My speedo is already messed up...i just put 3.73's in it, and its outta whack pretty bad..
so thankyou for all the info, its greatly appreciated...i'll go with the 245/45's, sounds like the best one to get..

then why are you considering 18's...?
anything in the 26.1-26.9" dia will raise your car up the way your asking. i have a 26.7 dia with my 19's in the rear but personally it's too tall for me. i like to stay 25.5-25.9 to keep it looking right.
