Spohn, Carbs, Driver's Side A/C and STB's
Steve,
I'm one of the many carbed guys with A/C on the driver's side, and as a consequence, the TBI STB that, for example, Edelbrock sells won't fit (as I understand it, a compressor brace is the culprit). My thought: Why try to develop an STB for this application when you could much more simply develop a compressor brace that would allow fitment of your design or another manufacturer? Whether the brace is the problem or not, Steve, give us what we need

Axle/Gears: a whiny one
Doesn't sound worth it to me.
What a pain in the a$$ it would be to rip off your compressor, just to put it back on with a different brace... And THEN put your STB on. with a custom STB you just put the STB on, and that's it.
Then, you have to buy a compressor brace, AND a STB, when you could just buy an STB that works for it for probably the same price as a regular one.
Just my 2 cents though.

I was under the impression that the brace (not bracket) is the problem. If the brace is in the way (someone correct me if this is incorrect), then modification shouldn't be significant. In the end, simplifying the problem by moding the brace itself might get us an STB sooner.

When I test fitted mine, it not only hit the bracket but the metal hardlines coming out of the back to the compressor.

Why not have a local shop make one?
Hell, one of the guys I race with made one for $40.
A couple of circle track shock mounts welded to the shock towers, some small heim joints (rod ends), and a piece of threaded black pipe from Home Depot.
