Driving around with no struts
I bought my '87 IROC earlier this summer and I thought I checked everything but something as obvious as the struts slipped by me. I took the car to get some other work done and as they lifted it up, we noticed that it had no front struts, just the spring. I never even noticed this while driving. The suspension feels normal so i never really caught the fact that it was missing struts. I dont know how long its been like this but what damage can i do if I keep going like this?
Oh and what good struts do you guys recommend?

someone is smokin too much
the rears are just shocks
you can drive without them but the rear end will non stop bounce and float like a boat on big waves
good luck

I recommend taking the car somewhere else.

If the car had no struts ( If they were out of the car )
The tires would fold into the car and it would be impossible to move
I am quite sure that if you drove it there they are only worn out badly and that is what the mechanic meant by saying you have no struts.

Yeah you guys are right, i went there and took a good look and my mechanic must be on something because there was definetly struts on the car. Over the phone he was saying "you know the car has no front shocks right?" He wasnt there for me to question him though. What confuses me is that the shop works almost exclusively with f-body's, corvettes, and other american cars, so i expected them to know something. Sorry about this. Close thread.
As he said, the car has no front shocks...which in never did. - He probably looked at the a-arm and noticed the shock bolt holes in the coil-spring pocket. If the a-arms had been on...(g-body? I think) they would have a shock bolted up through the coil spring area.
Deffinitely has struts on it, they may be worn out, but if it's driving they're deffinitely on there.
