spring question
i just bought a pair of lightly used rear Eibach Pro Kit springs. since i dont have the front springs what are my options for the front that will give me a similiar lowering height and spring rate? could i get the Moog IROC springs and cut them? if this would work how much should be cut off?

you can grab moog 5662's and chop off a bit. Maybe 1" or 1.5" would work alright. You can try 1" and install and drive it for a week and see how you like it, and redo it if you want.
I have no idea how a front spring can fly out on it's own, that boggles my mind. Unless you cut it so much that you're basically on the bump stops, then drove around like the dukes of hazzard. That might do it.

Please explain how trimming springs is unsafe?......every race car on the planet might explode if I don't let them in on the your little secret.
I second the moog suggestion, just don't cut too much at once. A 1/4 of a coil will drop it a .5" or more.

thanks alot guys. i think i'll go with the moog and cutting idea. what did you guys use to cut your's with? would a dremel work? oh and i'm having trouble finding someplace where i can buy just front springs, any suggestions?

every parts store in america will have front springs.
Ask for moog/TRW 5662's. Or just "front springs for a '90 Iroc".
That might cross to a moog 5664, that's the stiffer one. But if you're cutting it shorter, that in essence increases the spring rate, so maybe the 5662's will work for ya. (do I have that right?)
Don't use an oxy-acetylene torch to cut it with. Of course that's not a common tool to use anyway, unless you're a farmer.
Use an angle grinder with a cutoff disc. That's about the most common/easiest way to do it. A dremel might work, but you'll go through about 20 discs, and an hour or two, to cut one coil.
A cheap $20 angle grinder, and a $2 zip disc will make short work of it.
