Anyone running BFG Radial T/As in 255/60R15?
Just wondering if anyone has run these tires and what you though of them...?
Im going to need a bigger set of boots on the back of the car for next year and these seem to be a decently priced tire in the size range im looking for.
Im currently running some 225/60R15's and i cant hook worth a crap! So i figure the 255s will put a bit more rubber on the ground and also going to be taller (27") so that will help me out on my pitiful top speed...

I have had 15", 16" & 17" rims on my car and the ONLY tires I buy are BFG. I have never had issues with BFG and it will continue to be the ONLY tire I buy. The 255 will give you 0.8" more tread width than the 225. Good Luck.

I know their are recommended max tire widths for certain sized rims, but is anyone here been running anything wider than 255's on a 8" wide rim?
I picked up 4 15x8" rims from my buddy last year when he swapped out the boots on his vette. I like the look of the rims and got them for a steal so i would like to keep them if at all possible. But if i cant get a big enough tire on there ill have to dump the 2 rear rims for some fatter ones!

I ran BFG Radial T/As on my S/C in 255/50/R15. I liked them a lot, they seemed to take away my traction issues, but they also only have less than 300 miles on em so they might still need to wear in. Also made my back end look a LOT better than my old 215s did.
EDIT:Also, this was on my stock rims.

Ok, well i guess i might try to go with something even wider...
So you figure i can pop some 275s on there without having a deathwish?

According to the BFG website you can fit a 275 50 15 or a 295 50 15 on an 8" rim. However the 295 is 26.7" tall compared to the 275 at 25.9". The extra height might affect you speedo accuracy. The 295 will have a section width of 11.6" on a 8" rim compared to 11" with a 275.

I run 275/60/R15's on my 2nd gen snowflake 15x8's. Work great, and the 29" tall tire REALLY helps out the top end due to steep gearing (ahem, 3.23 with no overdrive, can't really hold a candle to yours...)
Mine are BFG "Excentia GT" tires, apparently a walmart only version of BFG radials.

If i could get 295s on there that would be awesome, and ill definately be going with something taller than a 50 series!
I would like the next set of tires to be somewhere in the 29" tall range. i could use that extra little bit of clearance for the exhaust and could use the extra top end, like sonix said, top end isnt very good with 1:1 top gears, especially with 4.11s
Speedo accuracy is not a problem, it already is way off the wall. besides its a 145mph speedo and i dont convert mph-kph in my head
Ok, well just looked around the tires again. It appears they dont make the 295s any taller
I might have to go back down to a 275/60R15 and see how those work out... At least it should really help out y exhaust from dragging and adds a little over 1" to the tread width!

295/65/R15 exists, but only in one brand, BFG drag radials IIRC. So like 5000 miles of treadwear on 'em
295/50 is actually fairly tall, not nearly as good as 275/60 though.

The 295/50 is only about 1/2" bigger diameter than the 225/60's im running
I would like to gain a couple inches in height if i could, i hate dragging the exhaust all over town! the tips are just the perfect length to just barely tap every bump in the road, if i could get something like 29" or 30" tires the extra 2" should be lots enough to keep the exhaust off the ground.

I had a set street rims/tires with BFG Radial T/A's 255/60R15's on the rear. I liked them for a street tire. They were easy to balance and were very smooth so I would recommend them as a good tire for the price. But I wouldn't buy them for traction purposes. If you want traction buy couple of extra rims to mount some some slicks or Drag radials on.

The car is a daily driver, i think slicks and Drs are out of the question...
Though i dont really put a million miles on the car it does get driven every day and NEEDS that extra traction. This thing just bakes the tires way too easy for my linkings, i cant even take off from a light with a bit of foot into it or the back end will bust loose!

Don't run a 275/50/15 on a 8 inch wide rim. They wear bad and at high speeds they wobble because of the side walls flex so bad.

I wish there was a smiley of a guy plugging his nose, holding a shovel... oh wait
that's close.A crown vic is renowned for having one of the most comfortable rides (my dad has had two, my brother one), and they come with 225/70/R15's. Trucks generally have 75 series tires. A 275/50 (do they exist?) or the 275/60 that he was thinking about should be totally fine. I run 275/60/R15's. I have a wobble, but it started when I did the u-joints, not when I got the tires.
