crate motor droping car to far. what springs to get?

ok i am going to be ordering springs for my z28 i have a 350 crate motor in it with a 5spd manual...i believe this is the reason the front is sittin so much lower then it should be due to the added wieght...the car does have lowering springs im not sure which ones but the fact that it rides the bump stops im assuming its prolly the eibach sportlines...was wanting to know if i got the prokit will it raise it up or not...im not sure how much of a wieght difference there is between the 350 and the 305 but im assuming its the reason the front end of the car is sittin prolly inch and half to 2 1/2 inches below the top of the tire...it rubs like crazy...need suggestions i am not going to stock hieght so plz do not suggest that...any advice be great thx

350 and 305 are almost identical in weight, i doubt it would be more than 10 pounds at the most.

the 350 did not make your car sit lower to the point where things are NOW rubbing. You have other issues in your suspension that need to be addressed. Either your stock springs are so badly wore out that now there is basicaly almost no spring tension left to them and they are just sagging like most stock springs do or something is causing the car to drop more then normal . You said that the fenders are sitting just 1.5"-2" above the tires. That is normal for stock sagging springs or lowering springs. If the tires are rubbing the fenders there then you really need some new struts. Also, there are plenty of people running the sportlines without serious rubbing issues like you say you are having. Either way though, I would definitly look into some new springs and struts if yours are old.

Do you even know what springs are currently in your car? stock or aftermarket? Eibachs have there name on their springs and I think the sportlines are red while the prokits are a dark navy blue or something like that

The engine weight is the same (+/- 5lbs). As stated by bottled, something has either been changed or was already an issue. I also agree that if you have 1.5-2" between the fender and the tires, unless you're out doing some baja jumps, you shouldn't have bumpstop issues unless your struts are worn out.

if your fenders are 1" below the tire then you really have some big issues with your suspension setup. When was the last time you drove this car?

if your springs where cut that much to put your car that low then I can promise you that the struts are wasted. They would be bottoming out all the time. What is the right height on the rear of the car

hard to see in this pic but heres a side picture of the car... the back of the car sits about the same height as your car in your sig...the front is even lower..im going to buy new shocks and struts proly kyb gr-2s up front and gas -a-just in the rear...but i know that wont solve the problem it may help but wont solve it...ive read every post i can on this site about lower springs and suspension problems and with eibach i hear good things and bad things so i dont no about them and it goes the same with the hotchkis...so im not sure what to do...someone told me just to get a set of moog stock springs and cut a 1/4 coil till i get disered ride height...but ive heard bad and good things about that also...so right now im at a stale mate on what to do...i need to get this problem fix asap...in your sig what suspension are you running i like the stance of your silver z28..?

I am running the KYBs and Eibach pro kit springs. Just buy the struts you mentioned if your on a budget and buy the pro kit springs from Eibach. You will find that your car will sit about stock ride height after the install. Let the new springs settle in and sooner or later they will look like mine do. DO NOT cut coils off the springs. all your doing is ruining the spring rate and your car will ride around town like those stupid import cars do. they bounce everywhere. That has got to be so annoying. Anyways, if you take your springs out, you may find that a coil has been cut. Look at the ends of the springs for a rusty end. More then likely the end will be all rusted from the cut. Either way, your problem is either the springs or struts/shocks or both
