sq8 rims on my 3rd gen

this is going to sounds strange but ive been looking at it for about a year now. has anyone heard of putting 2000-2004 2wd s10 16x8 SQ8 sport rims on a 3rd gen? they have the same back spacing as a formula rear rim. could this work? Would look great!!

Re: sq8 rims on my 3rd gen

Your referring to the ZQ8. The backspacing on those are 16mm offset if memory serves. Or a 4.25 backspaceing. The earlier ZQ8s look like 91-92 Z28 rims. The later ones are unique 5-spokes like came on my 2003 ZQ8. FYI, the center caps are chrome with a bowtie embossed on the chevy, the GMCs had a gray cap with a red GMC logo and also the 93-94 S-Blazer with 2wd sport rims (ones that look like RS alum wheels) have the same center cap but in gray with a gold bowtie. The lug nuts need to have the black beauty covers on them since the center caps are also held on by those.

the ones on your truck are the style im looking at. I had a 93 s-10 indy that had the z28 looking rim. yours are the ones im wanting. just trying to find a set in a good price. used is fine with me. the gmc's have a lighter silver paint where the chevy has a darker gray color to them

A buddy of mine put those ZQ8 rims on he Camaro (convertible, IIRC) and they looked great. I'll try to get a pic from him, if he still has a pic, he sold the car, and post it here.

Re: sq8 rims on my 3rd gen

They will definately fit. A few members of a S10 forum are trying to get Oasis to make bigger sizes of these than the 16s and wider ones too. No word yet from Oasis on it. Alot of Xtreme owners put these on. They are much better looking than the orig X wheels. Ive seen a '85 MonteCarlo with them on here in my town. I have 245-50-16 BFG kdws up front and 255-50-16 Michelin Pilots out back. The stock tire on there is a Goodyear Eagle GA 235-55-16. And they sucked. No traction..especiallly wet and wore out easily. GMC and Chevy use the same wheel. Not a different part #. Just a different cap. I had to replace one from a incident with a curb. The new one looked slightly darker and had more clear on it. But I checked on the part for both the S10 and 'Noma....same.

Oasis was going to do 17"/18" GTA crosslace wheels too, but they expected at least 24 people to caught up the $$$, before they even turned a prototype out.

TGO Oasis/GTA wheel thread

Even at only the projected $300-$400 ($1200-$1600 total, not bad!), I wouldn't had over that much $, without seeing what I'm buying.

Re: sq8 rims on my 3rd gen

Thats cool. I really liked my old GTAs I had bought and refubed on my TA one time. Got the R15s now. But even in 16inch, the GTAs are hard to beat in looks...never was a crosslace fan until those came out. =)

Re: sq8 rims on my 3rd gen

I put the earlier ZQ8 rims on my 88 IROC, they fit just fine after i bore out the hubs a bit because they wouldnt fit on either just the rear or maybe both front and back of the car.
