having a lowered car we've always got the problem of too much negative camber. I've given up trying to find a way to add positive camber to correct my steering geometery and I'm tired of eating up front tries so I broke down and bought a pair of bell tech drop spindles...
however I just found this and I think it might be the ticket for me since I do not want to lower my car even further with drop spindles;

I picked up a pair for my car and I'm going to get them installed and have an alignment done next thursday.. what do you guys think?? This is the first time I've seen something like this and I think it will work.
Comments welcome, what are your opinions?

I've seen those around for quite sometime at the summit site. they're like 35 bucks or so, Intrax makes them. they supposedly allow 3 degrees of adjustment either way. what do these SPC's run, and how much adjustment is allowed?

very interesting, thanks for the info.. I may have to purchase those if there isn't enough adjustment in these.
these allow approximately 1.75 degree of adjustment either positive of negative (mabey this is the same 3 degrees as the intrax?) and they cost me $25 CDN plus taxes today..

Don't our struts mount to the spindle at an angle? If they do, these bolts will also change caster.

I'm not positive. I do know that the kit/part number I bought is for 82-92 f-bodies only so it is not a universal application. Hopefully the company producing these things knows what they're doing...

you're right
i looked them up and the intrax set also offers 1.75 degrees of correction. and they're $35.59 US at summit. they're also 82 to 92 f-body specific.

No, they don't.Intrax makes them
Intrax BUYS them, BOXES them, and MARKS them UP. SPC MAKES them.
SPC is a MANUFACTURER, not a MARKETER. Big difference between who MAKES stuff and whose name you see on the box. Kind of like, GM vs Moog/TRW/Federal-Mogul/Dana. Lots of us have been using SPC engine hardware like rod bolts, since before ARP was a gleam in its grandma's eye yet, as an example.

I know that (as I'm sure 99% of car guys learn a week into the hobby, lol)Originally Posted by sofakingdom

I don't think these are another case of that. Wouldn't be suprised if they were but they are $10 cheaper if you get them as Intrax from Summit.
Can't wait to see you post back with the results Brisk.

I thought the Intrax were $35 US? I paid $25CDN which is substancial on a low cost product in my eyes.
Reguardless of who makes and who distributes ect, I just hope they cure my steering alignment problem.

Yep, Love to see a so called professional alignment technician jack up a car on alignment rack to make an adjustment and then just set it back down without rolling the car off and back on again before gauging it..."Hits hand on forhead" unbelievable. thats why you do not take your car to a place like Sears for an alignment.Originally Posted by Brisk

As for those bolts, I do not think I would trust them for lateral loading of a performance car with very good aftermarket tires. Those cammed bolts are thinner than the OEM bolts. I personally would like to see a stress test on them compared to the OEM bolt before I put my life on the line with them. On a standard passenger car with cheap tires- Not stress, no problem.

lol, I was thinking the SAME THING. Just being an R&R guy in a transmission shop for my first week was enough lift-time to realize the extreme camber and toe angles some cars hold until you roll them a good ten feet. After more than a year I've realized Ford trucks are especially bad for this, some even to the point of barely being able to push them for the first couple feet because of the extra load it creates.Originally Posted by Duracell Bunny

A lot of people do, but slotting the holes in some brands of struts (Monroe for example) will void the warranty.Originally Posted by L69norm

Got these installed today and it corrected my alignment issues (camber specifically). Good-bye bell tech drop spindles.
Inspecting the bolts today before installation, they are mark (cast?) with a grade 10 rating for strength and are just a hair smaller then the stock bolts with the oblong cam shape in the shaft. They also come with these odd looking rectangle 'lock washers' to ensure they bite into the strut and retain their position after installation. I have no concerns with their strength or the stress they will be under.
Elongating the hole would be a horrible thing to do in my opinion. After time the bolt would move and therefore throw your alignment off and perhaps casuing a very dangerous situation.
