Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

What is the stock size of my front and rear Sway bars??

I want to get the bushings but have no means to measure it accurately....

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

Use a crescent wrench on a couple of places on the bar, then measure the distance between the jaws.

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

Given that 1mm makes a difference that doesn't sound very accurate to me.

PS - Didn't mean to sound ungrateful for the reply.

I guess I'll just have to buy some calipers.

Look at your RPO codes and find the one starting with FE_ or F41 and let us know what it is.

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

Should be 34mm front and 21mm rear.

You can also wrap a strip of paper around the bar, mark a line across it, lay it out flat and measure between the marks with a ruler, divide by 3.14.

My car was a F41, and it had the 34/21 combo. Now it's 36/24 lol

I know that 36/24 seems to be the magic combo for most guys but just wondering did you notice much of difference when you switched from 34/21( this is what my car has).

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

The front end defintatly firmed up alot. A better feeling of control and less body roll. The rear went from 21 to 25. The 25 was way too much rear bar, so I went to the 24. The car is pretty nuetral with this combo and I like the feel of in cornering. If I still had the 21, I'd try it out and see how it works, but I trashed in a moment of stupidity.

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

Here it is straight from GM.

This is for 1991... I'll dig the 1992 book out later

FRONT
30mm solid RS
34mm hollow RS w/ 16" wheels & base Z28
36mm hollow Z28
(I assume the 36mm listed was for 1LE option.)

REAR
18mm RS
21mm RS w/ 16" wheels & base Z28
23mm Z28

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

Thanks guys - so my calipers were close (although getting the same reading twice was a PITA LOL)

I def have the 34/21 combo - I think with poly bshings that is plenty formeas I don't AutoX etc

Hey sid, from Oxford, born and raised! What about you, are you a brummie? LOL
(isn't it nice having these ridiculosly oversized, giant engined cars??? Could never do that in England. People that do are mental, the roads are WAY too small!!!!)

Wow, that is a nice looking set of endlinks. I may go that route next time. They rubber or poly?

Re: Stock sway bar size on 92 RS?

They appear to be very similar to GM's 1LE links. I used them for a while, but I didn't like the way they fit the sway bars. The ES versions seems a better match, IMO.
