My TA's Stace, problems???
My TA's Stace, problems???
Hi Guys:
I need advice/expertice on this. We installed brand new eibach pro-kit springs, kyb shocks, and brand new tires on the car. I thought it would drop the car, but didn't really do much. I know that the original springs may have been sagging...so I guess I can understand. However, the front end is sticking way up vs. back.
One of the guys at the shop says "it will settle." But really...that much?
The car has a 350 in it. I did remove the AC (and put an AC delete box in its place), and removed a few other things out of the engine bay like cruise control, etc. But I can't imagine that would take so much weight off the front end to cause the front sitting that much higher.
I am at a loss here. What do you guys think?

Thats deff. a big gap from the wheel to the fender lips. DId you index the springs in the pocket right? They will settle some when you start to drive the car.
another thing is the profile on those tires. They look like something you would put on a s10 or someting.

I have the same setup as you. I have Eibach Pro Kit and KYBs and they are great. I have stock tires and the stance is lower by an inch. I find it very good. I dont know what your problem is unless the springs are not in place properly.

I'm unsure that I buy the whole "settling" business. I replaced both fronts and rear springs over a year ago. No measured settling whatsoever. TPI and yankee are correct. If the front springs aren't indexed properly the car will ride like a 4x4.

Thanks for your responses. I will have to check the seating on the front springs. Is there anything I should check on the backs? Anything else in general to note?
The tires on the car are the factory size for 1982 --- 215/65/15.

The rear I always remove the isolator from the top and slide a piece of hose over the 1st coil just so its not metal on metal.. This give you a little more of a drop also.

JamesC is entirely right about the spring indexing. Mine was wrong and it made the car much higher, like yours. Search for the threads by EdMiller and others about how to do it and give it a try.
