3rd gen frame vs 82-04 s10

For some reason I have a feeling that the 3rd gen frame and a s10 frame are very similar. Did a lot of searching but couldnt find a definite answer.

what do u guys think??

sorry, absolutely nothing in common. The nearest thing you'll find is the steering boxes, the calipers and the rotors. The third gen longitudinal rails are farther apart, the suspensions are entirely different, and so on. BTW, I happen to have both vehicles.

Let me guess: you were thinking that it might be neat to put the s-10 IFS on the camaro, to replace the stupid struts with upper control arms. I've had the same thought. But why do it to a third gen when the fourth gen not only comes with a proper front suspension, but also looks so much better?

The lower control arms interchange IIRC

but the k-member is shaped differently, so you have to buy a different oil pan on an ls based swap. The F-body one isn't going to clear without some cutting

You are correct, 3rd gens, S10s and G Bodys all share the same lowers.

Re: 3rd gen frame vs 82-04 s10

Just use some '01-02 factory manifolds if you want a shortie style header

i got the 2000+ cast iron manifolds....they will work except a o2 bung needs to be relocated , extentions made and need to get those funky looking flanges and gaskets.
all that is ok but nobody around me is real intrested in welding cast iron..dont know why

so guys in ur surf and search adventures have you guys seen anyone meke short headers for 98-02 fbodies without those air tube ports and that has some slip fit or ball and flange or 3 bolt flange that are the same kind left and right ??

was that too many requirements!! i hope not. fingers crossed

Re: 3rd gen frame vs 82-04 s10

3rd Gens, G-bodies and S10s all share the same front springs. Actually the S10 shares more front suspension components with the G-body than a 3rd Gen.

You can drop the whole Camaro body on an S10 frame.

See the AWD thread in here, and check out the many Camaro 4x4's in the world.
