Front spindle Replacement
Anyone know why "they" can't make wider spindles/hub knuckles with the same offset as 4th gens?

Re: Front spindle Replacement
Why do you want them? Not everyone wants to turn a 3rd gen into a 4th gen. I like it tucked in, it give more flexibility for wheel and brake options.

Re: Front spindle Replacement
What wheel option? I was asking because of the lack there of. And I don't like the look of the spacer. Please share what wheel options I have without spending $6,000 on customs and no torque thrusts.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Front spindle Replacement
Racecraft is making lowering spindles for these cars and I'd say there is a lot more market for those, but I have yet to see many people running them yet. What you want is even more specialized, I just dont' see a market there. A spindle made just to get the right offset is going to be heavier and many, many times more expensive for what you can do for $50 off of ebay. Also like its been mentioned, the spacers take care of most brake clearance issues.
I've been looking forever for a set of lightweight 18x11 wheels, and my best options so far are:
CCW can make a set of classics for $2200... still not cheap, but well under $6000. I've already bought a set of new centers from somebody, I just need to get a set of shells at $300 a wheel. Should look pretty killer with over 3" of lip and gold painted centers...
I've talked to a guy at this website and they'll make whatever offset you want w/in their guidlines and build them with the correct 5x120.6mm bolt pattern. 18x10's with 16mm offset should fit perfect... and look like *** for some nice lightweight racing wheels. 18x11's with a 23mm offset should fit with some spacers and a lot of hammering. Unfortunatly it looks like a couple months lead time at least. $1250 is a great price for an 18x10 under 20lbs.

Re: Front spindle Replacement
The more inner spindle allows for the a much deeper dish than the 4th gen wheel location. The 4th gen wheels look like FWD wheels, which is not my favorite look.
I can't possibly name every single wheel that is available for our car, but I'd say its in the hundreds. Anywhere from $400-$10,000. And like Roostmeyer said, most "custom" wheels are $2000-$3000. Not $6000. Certainly a lot, but its worth it if thats the look you want. What 4th gen fit wheels are you looking at that you wish they made for 3rd gens?

Re: Front spindle Replacement
SLP ZR1's come to mind as a wheel option for thirdgens. If you look for any 5x4.75" bolt pattern and the sticky on the Wheel board of this forum, you begin to get a pretty good idea of wheel sizes. Most popular wheels are in the 17" range and have a 4.5" or larger backspacing.

Re: Front spindle Replacement
there are literally thousands of wheels available int he proper offset that dont cost 6000. Just look around a little, for that matter a set of proper offset ccw's are only a little over 2500+/-, thats a high end 3pc wheel, but still less than half of 6k.
your not going to find the ebay cheepie 1pc cast 4th gen/vette knockoffs in the proper offset, and since they are crap wheels, why would you even want them.
as for the custom spindle thats wider, the is no demand for it. Pretty confident that nobody will ever make it.

Re: Front spindle Replacement
I definately agree the look of deep dish is a much better look. Most wheel and rim online stores that I have been to have hardly any selection or none at all. 3 piece forged are ideal I just don't have that kind of cash yet.
Thanks for all the great info.

Re: Front spindle Replacement
Yes, I will agree with that. On the big websites you will not get many results if you just select a third gen from the drop down list. You need to know the specs of the wheel and go from there.
