You have to remove the LCAs and the
bushings need to be pressed out to remove
and the new ones pressed in, I just
removed mine tonight along with tie rods
drag link, idler arm, and stuts tomarrow
I need to find a shop that will press my
new bushings in along with the ball joints

Just a note on poly bushing installation. I spoke to Energy Suspension about the squeaking and popping from their bushings. They told me "the squeaking and popping is normally due to the fact that the metal sleeve in the very center of the bushing must be removed, and liberally coated with the silicone (fancy grease)provided. When this is not done, the sleeve is not free to move within the bushing. This causes the sleeve to bind within the bushing". So I promptly removed the sleeves from my fromt LCAs and lubed them up with the silicone. They were a real pain to remove binding up all the way out. But after I lubed them. They went right in, nice and easy. I am really glad I did this before I installed the LCAs back on the car.

HEY ANDYZ28,
Just read your post on lubing the LCA
bushings, I have to ask, how did you
remove the sleeves from the bushings,
it seems like this could be difficult
Thanx.

I wish I knew that. That explains why mine squeak!

Find a deep socket that is slightly smaller than the sleeve. Then put a spacer under the bushing and use a press to push it out. It shouldn't take much. Be careful, and use lube on the socket. Some presses have an assortment of pressing tools...if you find one that looks suitable, use it instead. You shoud only need to press the sleeve out 2/3 the way...if you go further, or use too big a socket, removal is a pain! -dhirocz

I installed my bushings using the ball joint insatll tool at the shop my brother works in. It was really easy, and took us about 30 minutes to remove and replace them and the balljoints.

Here is what I did. I know now that I should have removed the bushings from the shells, then removed the sleeves, and lubed them up real good. The sleeves are much easier to remove and install once the bushings are removed from the sleeves. I had to do it the hard way (like everything else). So I got about a 5" piece of 5/16"NF threaded rod and 2nuts..I threaded one nut about half way down. The other nut I only threaded on until it was flush with one end of the threaded rod. I got a selection of sockets, and a large "C" clamp..I placed the piece of threaded rod into the center of the sleeve.Put a socket on one end and used my "C" clamp to slowly push the sleeve about 90% out (don't remove it completly). Lubed everything up,inside and out. And pushed it back in. I was amased at how much effort it required to remove them, and they made quite a bit of noise in the process. But they slid back in silently, and with almost no effort!
