Yes, it was in a Toyota pickup that had all of the lug nuts loose - not even finger tight.

My first check would be to jack up the car, hold the wheel from both the 6/12 o'clock and 3/9 o'clock positions and see if there is any excessive movement.

If so, and the wheel lugs are tight, check the spindle nut. It may have backup out. Remove and inspect/repack the bearings.

I could also be worn tie rod joints or any of a hundred of other things. You'll have to physically look and inspect for anything that is loose.

Take off your front wheels and check your brakes. I once had one bolt missing on the caliper and the other loose, this resulted in the brake pad clanking around.

Check out your sway bar end-links. My car made the same noise. It sounded like someone was shaking a fist full of coins. I took a look underneath the car and the the four little rubber pieces on each link were deteriorated to the point where pieces had broken off.

If this is the problem with your car, get polyurethane replacements.

Sway bar end-links, if it sounds like coins in your pocket.

Sounds like coins, so must be the sway bar end links. I'm going to check it out this weekend. Thanks.

Another thing to check is the flimsy clips that hold the disc brake pads to the calipers piston. Some people leave these out when putting in new pads and it can let the pads rattle.

If it is a higher pitch jingle noise it most likely the retainer clips for the brake pads. I have the same problem since I had Midas (Never again) refurbish my rear brakes. They neglected to properly install the clips and have since fallen off. Most parts store have them for cheap.

i have the same problem, only my sway bar end links look to be fine and the brake pads were installed correctly. When I have people in the back seat, the noise is louder. Everytime I hit the smallest bump, it's an annoying clang. I've checked underneath because it sounds to be coming from the rear, but found nothing wrong. This noise has been bothering me for about a year now. If anyone figures this out, I think i'm up to offering a reward.

I know you said the brakes are installed correctly but you should check to see if the ears on the pad without the clip are flush against the caliper, if they are not you can take a pair of channel locks and bend the ears to make sure they are right against the caliper, this will keep the pads on the side without the clip from jingling around. Hope this helps. Good luck.
