Front Control Arm Bolt Size?

If the size is somewhere on this site, my search-fu is weak. I'm swapping out control arms for ones with new bushings/balljoints/etc and I'd like to replace the bolts as well. Can't find the size anywhere and no second car to use after I pop the factory ones off. If I wasn't doing this job today/tomorrow I would've just ordered a set from Spohn or something. Any help would be appreciated!

they are 12mm diameter grade 10.9, you can measure the length and find something close. I can get you a better idea later if nobody else chimes in.

Re: Front Control Arm Bolt Size?

From GM.

Nut 11516073
Bolt 11502603
Bolt 11500952

Bolt, Hex (M12 x 1.75 x 95) and the other is Bolt, Hex (M12 x 1.75 x 115).

The above from my 82-85 Parts & Illustration Cat., which shows the two bolts as different sizes--and the ones I put on my 85 IROC are different. Spohn's site, for what it's worth, shows two sizes as well. My 82-91 Parts & Illustration Cat., however, shows only one part number, 11502603 (M12 x 1.75 x 95).

Suh-weet. Thanks! I'll hit up Tacoma Screw or something and pick up both sizes to be safe. Looking at the bushings I think I'll need both. One of the bushings was significantly longer than the other.

Re: Front Control Arm Bolt Size?

Since those bolts will eventually seize to the metal of the bushings (don't ask me how I know or how long it took to remove them), I'd slathered the unthreaded shank with anti-seize to be on the safe side.

Re: Front Control Arm Bolt Size?

Are full threaded bolts okay or should I go for the OE style shanked? I would imagine fully threaded bolts would wear prematurely?

Re: Front Control Arm Bolt Size?

i would pass on the all threaded bolts, but be sure the bolts you buy are of the proper hardness, grade 10.9 at least.

Wait, so grade 5 isn't good enough? Yeah, I absolutely thrash my car so I'm not going to be trusting the main front suspension piece to undersized hardware. Thanks.

I succumb to getting the exact right bolt and ordered the hardware set from Spohn. As much as I'd rather avoid it I postponed the install for a bit. But I went ahead and also ordered replacement rod ends for the rear control arms/panhard so I'll put those on as well. For some reason the driver side LCA had a ton more slop than the passenger.
