Which Torque Arm will work ?

Hi,

What years/vehicles could I get a torque arm that will fit an 87 firebird with 700r4 ?

Thanks.

IIRC, 82-92 torque arms are interchangeable.

Awesome thanks.

By the way is this what it would look like ? Mine is missing.

Also what size of bolts does it need for the diff. ?

That looks like the right one. I dont know what size bolts but you are better off getting some from another thrid gen or possible order some from someone that makes aftermarket setups like UMI, BMR, Spohn, etc

82 is different. The transmissions were not as long (drive-shaft is longer). They came with the T10 and I think TH200, a short tail TH350 fits...

The torque arm has no weight saving holes in it (not sure what year they started doing this). I am also 90% sure the torque arm is longer and the "bushing" at the transmission end is flipped.

I have an 82...

Our TA uses 9/16 bolts, but I believe the factory setup used 14MM that were like 7" long.

Maybe a better answer would have been T-5 and 700R4 torque arms.

Where are you located & how big of a hurry are you in?

I'm getting ready to take the factory torque arm off of my 1990 RS to install my new Spohn adjustable unit and was just gonna chuck the old one in the scrap metal pile. You could have it for the cost of shipping if you want it. I'd just need to find out how much shipping would cost. It's not off the car yet; I should be swapping it out by next weekend (04/12/2014), maybe a little sooner. If you're in a hurry, this might not help, though. Just let me know.

Re: Which Torque Arm will work ?

Looks like shipping should be less than $30.00 in the 48 states.

I guess I should ask, does it matter if its automatic or manual for torque arm ? My car is automatic.

Same part for T-5 or 700R4. Will be torque arm and the two bolts to attach it to the rear.

FedEx shipping calculator says $22.00 and three days to arrive. If you want it, I'll let you know when I get it pulled next week/weekend. Should have it out by the 12th at the latest; hopefully sooner. My new parts are already here and I'm anxious to get them in. I'm still recovering from a broken leg, so I'm moving a little slower than normal. But if you're not in a hurry, that's pretty cheap and you don't even have to leave home to get it! lol

Re: Which Torque Arm will work ?

That will work. Yeah no hurry. I still have get another tranny for it and tires and other minor things. Cheap I like! None of the salvage yards I called had any torque arms and I don't have the budget for after market ones, wish I did though.
