Rear sway bar install
So, my 85 from the factory did not come with the rear sway bar (Sport Coupe model) Now that I am able I'm really working on my camaro and going through and upgrading where I can. Went to the salvage yard and they had a 99 firebird and it had the rear sway bar. So i pulled the bar and all the hardware (link mount brackets, ubolts) however when I went to go install on my car, even though the holes are there for the bracket I found the holes weren't threaded. Has anyone else run across this? I was just gonna tap the holes with a 10x1.50 since that was the size of the bolts from the donor. (obviously I will use new hardware.)

I'm not looking at my car but I don't recall threaded holes.
I think my '89 has metal tabs at the body and the sway bar bushings sandwich the tab in the middle. My memory could be flawed.

Sorry, should've clarified, I meant the bracket that bolts to the body and has the sway bar link running through it. And yea, thats what I was planning on doind, just tapping the holes and being done with it. Just didn't know if anyone else had done it and what size bolts/tap they used.

Oh, I think I understand now. He's got to attach the upper bracket to the subframe.

My rear end links had a bolt that ran through the bushings and a nut at the end. No threads on the body. Bolt, washer, bushing, sway bar, bushing, washer, sleeve, washer, bushing, body mount, bushing, washer and nut.

Thanks man, greatly appreciate it. I was gonna go with the 3/8" but it went in with out traction before even trying to tap it, but the M10 won't even try to go in, so I'll just go with that.

Based on the description in the Parts & Illustrations Catalog, I'm going to guess that's a Hex Washer Head self-TAPping bolt. The book implies a change in 91, but still lists a "TAP" bolt. Assume that means at the factory they lined up the fastener with the hole and zipped it in with a power tool. Probably a better deal to tap it at home.
