what is the deal with these headers?

Ok when I first started coming on here people where saying the the edelbrock TES headers are a good header. Now I am reading all kinds of bad stuff about them. I have them sitting in my garage and they are going on my car sat... Are they really that bad?

Re: what is the deal with these headers?

I never liked them . People are big bandwagoners. The old edelbrocks had different primaries to attempt to tune all the cylinders to be the same since the primaries were not equal length. When the word got out, people had a hissy fit. Newer versions don't have the 1-1/2" and 1-5/8" primaries, they're all 1-5/8". The other big thing people don't like is the way the 2 pipes merge to go to the cat. I you don't like it, flowmaster make a "Y" section that could be spliced in for around $35.

They should be prety good. Chevy High performance put them on there 305 build up and they were worth 1/2 second in the quarter mile..

the ones for the 350 are better, they have dual 2.5" to since 3" Y pipe. The 305 headers have dual 2.25" pipe to single 2.5" but they have a heat stove for the air cleaner. If you have to pass visual inspection you would need this.

I put them on my car and I like them a lot. But I think SLP makes a better set of headers then anyone on the market, but they cost a pretty penny. OH! And if ur about to install these headers I HIGHLY suggest that you use copper exhaust gaskets. The edelbrock gaskets have been known to leak. Just a thought. I used the SCE copper gaskets and stage 8 bolts and I have never had a leak in 2 years.
