Sense it seems that we have reached a hp platue for our tbi systems at lets say 360ish. With all the hype about running out of air or fuel or both, depending on who you listen to, why don't we get Snuf to design a halfbreed. Half tbi half carb. The tbi would be used during idle and cruise to retain good mileage, then when we went to WOT the carb half would open up and provide the extra air and fuel needed to make max hp. There would be a little extra plumbing involved but whats that to gearheads like us. Think about it for a while, it might just work.

I've got two tpi iroc's to play with mpfi, I also have a 350vortec going in my 91rs and I want to keep it tbi if possible. I've got a 454tb and injectors with a vafpr, now after all was said about not being able to make over 360hp with 90lb injectors it may be carb time, or half a carb time.

i think the limits are really turning out to be more myth than fact. 360hp(340 calculated) is really close to what prevost is making at the crank mathematically(yes, there will be dyno sheets before summers end) and he admits that his chip still has a lot of room for improvement. that is with 350 injectors and a non-vacuum referenced afpr.

NJ, I hope all goes well with the tbi, I think I have everything I need to get this thing running really good. I have diacom and winaldl programs and a pocket programmer and will be getting tunercat before to long, so I just need the expertise to burn my own chip. I looks like I'll be running the L03 longer than I thought but the 350 will go in asap. I was half kidding about the half and half thing but I seems it could work with a little inginuity. I wonder if snuf has seen this thread yet.

well the factory code only goes up to 6400 rpm, beyond that it just holds the values that you last were in at 6400 up to whatever rpm you reach. If you got to the point where it was an issue .. this would have to be a crazy 7000 rpm motor.. youd probably just modify the code.
Beyond that.. theres really no limit other than my little theory that the higher the rpm the harder to tune with tbi

I thought that at some point you would just run out of time to fire the injectors long enough to spin it any faster. I'm not planning on spinning the engine any higher than 6000rpm anyway.
