Advice On Performance Upgrad??

I HAVE ACQUIRED AN 86 T/A WITH A 305 TBI ENGINE , STOCK TRANS AND EXHAUST. THERE IS 90,000 K ON MOTOR. CAR IS COMPLETELY STOCK AND EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED. ONLY AFTERMARKET ITEM IS A K/N AIR FILTER. WHAT WILL GIVE ME THE BIGGEST BANG FOR MY BUCK WITH RESPECT TO MODS UNDER THE HOOD/TRANS. IM NOT LOOKING TO GO CRAZY WITH THIS BIRD JUST LIVEN IT UP A BIT. 305 TBI IS NO SCREAMIN DEMON. ALL INPUT IS APPRECIATED. THANKS GENTLEMEN

I would get a 3 inch cat back exhaust. Our stock 2 1/4 inch piping sucks. Hooker, slp, flowmaster, edelbrock will all work welll and give a very nice tone. U said k & n filter but make sure u do the open element mod its good for about 5-10 hp. heres the link http://snflupigus.tripod.com/tech/op...tep1/step1.htm

All this for a total of about 300 bucks for a total of around 15-20hp. I would also suggest buying a lower temperature fan switch. Tbi runs like **** at 220-240 degrees. Another 40 bucks or so .

Uh...... I can tell you that if it's really TBI, then it isn't stock at all. Make sure it's not a carb. TBI wasn't put on our cars (stock) until '88.

i think he meant to say that he has an 88 Trans AM cause his user name is 88TRANS

Open Element, headers, hi flow cat, and 3" cat back should be your first mods

What he said but in this order.......

Open Element, 3" cat back, hi flow cat, then headers. This is usually the easiest on the wallet and does the most good in that order.

If you can do all of them at once, by all means do it.
