Adj. press. regulator
Can anyone tell me the benefits of using an adj. press. regulator? The pressure reads 12psi just before entering the TBI. My stock pump puts out 9-13psi, so what is the use of adjusting pressure? I am already showing 12. Know what I mean?

If your engine's modified (bigger cam, heads, etc) you can fine tune the fuel mixture with pressure.A chip is needed to change the injector duty-cycle, but for instance, if it runs close to stoich at idle-4000, but leans out above that, you can compensate a little by adding fuel pressure. Of course this will also make it a little rich at the bottom end, but it's a better compromise than running dangerously lean higher up.
I'm running about 18 psi.

If you decide to convert, it isn't difficult:

Well the thing is, is that I already have a adj. press. regulator I just haven't put it on because it seems mute. My fuel pump can only put out 13 and my pressure reading is now 12 so what I am thinking is that I can't adjust what isn't there. Does that make sense?

I have the vacuum adjustable regulator and I am very happy with it. The way I have it set i think i am like 11psi at idle and maybe 15 at WOT.

Thanks for the info Brian and nice work on your car by the way. Looks good. I do have a question about it though. How did you mount your msd box where it is? Do you now have no heater? Can you do that and still keep your heater? Thanks.

Ok look forward to seeing those pics. Hey I am still interested in seeing what you had to do to the firewall around the a/c inlet and heater motor. That looks good I would like to try that if it dosen't hurt anything. Thanks

ok...i posted the pics on my web site.
go to z28boy.cz28.com , and go to "general tech" on the table of contents on the left side. then, click on the link to the GM AFPR installation.
there should be some stuff there that may help out.
any questions..just ask.

I am going to do something like that this winter. That pic is not actually of my car but my setup is the exact same in the exact same route/location with the exact same parts. I have the ultimate TBI mods which help considerably and the vacuum line is pretty much out of the way of the bore. I will get some pics soon.

no, i dont have heat (at all). i only have the car on the road from may 1st to october 1st, so i really dont need it.
i removed the entire blower motor and everything, so all it is is firewall there. it leaves you with two holes in the firewall, so i made a "cover" for one, and just kinda left the other. if you want, i will get some pics posted. actually, i will probably post them on my site anyways. ill let you know when i get them on there.
mounting the MSD box was easy and pretty straight forward. i dont like using screws, so i just drilled some holes and went out and bought some nuts and bolts, and was all set.
