how are TBI cams different?

how are TBI cams different?

I keep seeing references to tbi cams, what is different? why won't any ol' cam work?

the cams are just hydraulic rollers, nothing particularly special about them. what you see when you look at application specific cams are usually very small step cams. they ae designed to work well with a stock computer or maybe an off teh shelf after market chip. those cams are pretty much a waste of time for what they cost.

OK so I can run pretty much whatever cam I want and the ecm can be reprogramed to handle it?

i would keep it under 220 deg intake at .050

Many people recommend keeping the lobe seperation angle LSA to 112° minimum to keep the MAP sensor "happy".

yes it helps pull more vac this makes for better tuning

When you see Fuel Injection cams for sale, the only reason they have received that title is because the LSA (in proportion to the duration) is designed to work with an ECM.

What is meant by dual pattern?

Does one need a dual pattern cam for EFI?

Or just as long as one has 12" of vacuum...

dual patt. cams are beter for stock heads and such you use them on a good set of heads and you will loos power some times
