Intake, I know ... Do a search, BUT
Ok sorry about the Intake question given all the posts on intakes, but I couldn't find an exact answer for my combo.
After weighing out my options of the upgraded vortecs, which cam and so on, I've decided to stay with the stock Vortecs mainly because of cost. I will be running the LT4, which is about Max on the stock Vortec heads.
Question: I can't decide between the Performer RPM or the RPM Air Gap, I think from what I've read the Performer RPM is the one I want. I just NEED to be sure before I buy!
Anyone hear anything on this new Edelbrock Performer EPS intake?
Can assembled heads be milled
,I'm not going to buy them assembled if I have to disassemble them to mill em.?
1 last, is the LT4 the biggest cam anyone here would run on stock Vortecs, I know people like the ZZ4 cam, but it's a little large for my application.
Sorry about all the questions, I'm going to start buying parts and I need to be sure that what I buy will be optimum for my engine.
THANK YOU :hail:

Well granted the rpm air gap is a better flowing intake but it is more expensive. And if I remember right the power band is 1500-6500 instead of idle to 5500. Dont know if you need to consider that. The EPS manifold is not made for vortec application yet. I could be wrong, but Im pretty sure its not. And yes you can get heads milled when they are assembled.

Im not sure if the air gap is taller or not but if it isnt I'd go with it over the regular RPM just for the oohhh and ahhh factor
If it is taller you'll see some big clearence problems unless you run a small tbi adaptor. The holley one on my RPM makes the top of my open element rub the bottom of my hood. z28boy is running the air gap with a small adaptor, I know that much for sure about it. Check out his website z28boy.cz28.com .

Really, the RPM is really good, I have experience with that one. The air gap might be a worthwhile investment for yopu. Just take into consideration that if you were expecting your engine to make peak torque at say 3000, then it will now be at 3500 but closer to 4000. In conclusion, the RPM non air gap, just RPm is probably my first choice. Good luck,
Holley street dominator intake is real nice. It is super tall if you get the idle-7200rpm model tho. They also sell a idle-5500 model that is noticably shorter. I would run a single plane and adapter. Ive read alot of posts and TBI + single plane makes good power.

It's hard to say if the victor jr would be too much for that cam and a 305, I think it would be. A 302, 327, or 350 and I would say go with the victor jr. The EPS isn't made for vortec heads.
So for your application the RPM would be best. The air gap is okay but in our case you want a warm intake manifold, not a cool one (remember, wet flow not dry flow). The performer is crap against the RPM. I've never seen a case where the performer has made more power than the RPM. That includes stock Lg4's. Lots goes into choosing an intake. If you're worried about hood clearance go with the performer, you can make the RPM fit and the air gap RPM is the same as the RPM.

Ok, this is making me wonder about which intake to get. I am planning to go with open air (K&N 14x3 from Summit). I would really like to keep the stock hood if I can. So which intakes can I get with the open air element? I want to be able to close the hood comfortably. Don't mind if the nut touches the insulation but I definitely don't want it pressing up on the hood in the slightest.
