What cam should I use?

What would be a good cam to put in my 305 crossfire? Thanks for any help.

it seems to be a popular opinion (especially if you have to pass emmissions) to go with an lt1 cam. they give good power and can still pass smog

Does it have to be any specific year in order for it to match up right?

No, all years will work from 94-97 from Z's or TA's. Although I have heard that the later years were slightly better cams in terms of performance. Also, when putting this cam in your 305 you have to cut down the dowel on the cam, you can just use a dremel cut off tool to do this.

Hang on here I think most people here missed that you are running a CFI intake. The LT1 cam will not work.

Are you planning anymore engine mods in the future? We need to know a little more about your current and planned combo to give you cam recommendations.

the lt1 cams are rollers. his motor is not a roller therefore the cam will not work.

So far there arent any modifications to the motor. But within the next couple of weeks i'll be rebuilding it. Are there any suggestions on what i should do? Thanks.

Get good heads. I dunno what kind of heads you have but bigger valves and a port and polish would do wonders. A little bit bigger cam would be good too but I have know idear what goes well with CFI. BTW you might be able to find a 305 roller block for not very much and adding a roller cam would be v. good too. Along with porting the intake and headers and catback.
