Streetable Combo??
Streetable Combo??
Hello all, I have decided that I want to go a little bit quicker than I am right now. Yesterday I drove with my friend who has a 10sec LS1 and now my car feels soooo slow. Anyway, I was wondering if I could run a holley 670, on top of an RPM Air gap intake, with AFR 190's, and Comp cam 276HR (220/230 510/510 114LSA). Well, my question is, would this be well enough mannered to drive on the street? Also, would a holley 670 be able to support that or should I go to some other fuel injection system other than TBI? I don't have enough money to go and change to aftermarket fuel injection (not going carb), so I wanted to make sure this would work and be streetable before I waste lots of money. Thanks.
I will be running a similar setup to that. I have the Pro Topline 200cc heads with a comp XR276HR cam (224/230 .503/.510 112). The cam should be pretty streetable once tuned, but I don't think the Holley 670 would support it. This setup is good for well over 400fwhp once tuned and so should yours. I will be running the Holley stealth ram mpfi. To swap from TBI to the stealth ram cost me right around $800. That included ECM, wiring harness, 30lb injectors, manifold plenum, throttle body, and fuel pump. If you are going to spend the money on some great heads and a big cam just save a little longer for a new fuel injection.
Wow! That's crazy! I knew I would need a custom chip but where did you get that setup for so cheap? I don't think I could find that on Ebay for that price. I was hoping for about 400 to the wheels with my combo, and that would be alot for the 670 to handle. I just want to know, because otherwise I won't buy a 670 yet, and just save that money.

I always figured it would cost about under a grand to go to a stealth ram after all the misc parts like gaskets and fuel lines. If that were my combo that you listed I'd put something along the lines of a Stealth Ram on it.

JR305,
How did you swap over for such a good price, I also thought that it would be at least a grand to do this?
A guy that I know had a "92 computer and wiring harness that he got from TPIS, is this a good price? Sittin' here wondering if I should see if he's still got it.
Is your motor in yet? If it is howsit running?

Well, you have to look to ebay for some of the parts. I will give you a break down on what I paid and where I got the parts.
Stealth Ram manifold/ AFPR/ fuel rails: $480 with discount. Thunder Racing
Holley fuel pump: $155 thunder racing.
Ford 30 pound injectors: $150 Ebay, but you can find way cheaper smaller injectors ~$30
Speed density ECM/Harness: $120 thirdgen.org classifieds
Stock 48mm throttle body: $30 thirdgen.org classifieds.
Throttle cable/bracket: $0 got from a friend.
Intake $20 thirdgen.org classifieds.
Well, I guess it cost me a bit more than I said, but if you don't need the big injectors you can have this set up for around 800. You could also buy a cheaper fuel pump. This does not include the cost of the fuel lines, their are tons of options but you can’t use the stock ones without modifications.
