ET predictions since I can't run my car right now...

I've been getting nuts lately since I wanna run on track soon, but can't on account of my sfc's not being in.

Normally this wouldn't discourage me from beating on my car but I got a new paintjob back in Feb.

So I figure I'd ask my TBI brethren what my LO3 from hell may run... will she run 14's this year or not?

The car as it stood...

2.2xx 60 ft avg
15.4xx ET avg
9.xx 1/8 avg
71.xx mph 1/8 avg
91 mph Trap speed avg

Stock LO3 cam
Stock heads
Stock Intake
Stock TBI
Stock exhaust manifolds

3.23 Richmond gears
underdrive pulleys
Injector spacer
1.6 roller tip rockers Comp cams
Custom RAM air
6 degrees timing
Precat cutout

I run 245/50/16 BFG Geforce KDWS.

That was how my last track day looked, a few 2.3 oddities, but stuck there...

Since then this is what has gone in...

RAM air Ver TPIairboxhijackthefoglightboxesforscoops
kyb shocks/struts
4th gen rear variable rate springs
Stainless steel 2 1/4 y-pipe ala SLP with a pre-cat cutout
Aluminum driveshaft

On tap in the coming weeks when I get my lazy *** away from work and back into the garage...

Headers aka Flowtech shorties 1 5/8
SFC's
Posi

so let's guess this mess shall we?

Id say a 15.1-15.2, and maybe a 14.8-14.9 with 1 3/4 headers.

Slade1, you should get 1 3/4 headers with a 3 inch y pipe.

Just wondering what does that have to do with running your car? SFC and paint job? If the car has air in the tires and idles than you can run it at the track. I doubt you're stressing the chassis enough to hurt your paint until you start pulling 60's in the 1.6 or 1.5 area.

I think with the headers and a little better 60' you will get into the 14s. You already have 91 mph trap speeds which should be enough for 14.9s as is. Stick with the 1 5/8" primarys.

The traditional "hardtop to b-pillar" stress crack in the paint is what I don't want again.

Those with t-tops don't worry about it cause it doesn't exist, but with a hardtop, it just bothers me lol.

Either way, they're going to touch up the paint all over, with the stress cracks at those points being a priority. The sfc's should focus the weight transfer on the sfc's rather than the a-pillar-hardtop-b-pillar.

Yeah I'm hoping for that 14.xx time... the trap speeds say I can do it. I focused my mods this year to help on traction, posi, sfc's shocks/struts, springs and increasing torque along the rpm curve, mainly the headers and slp style y-pipe.

As it stands when I pass through the traps I am barely hitting 4000 rpm. I am hoping that by giving it the ability to reach its hp peak quicker (stock 4000 rpm) I am able to shift sooner, rather than wasting it preloading to 5200 rpm from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to third and spend basically cover more track at higher mph. If all goes well, I still trap around 91-92, but the earlier trap speeds will improve since I am getting to higher speeds quicker. i'm intending for it to peak maybe 100-200 ft prior to completing the 1/4 mile.

Axle/Gears: good guess
I doubt a stright line launch w/ your LO3 is going to crack your top. High G curves and driving on unlevel ground would probably be alot worse. I just painted my car and repaired the cracks in my hardtop(pass side was worst) and have taken it to the dragstrip since w/ no problem.

Oh ye TBI family of little faith lol...

I pulled 15.8 with stock engine, flowmaster, 3.23 gears and auto. At that time I was pulling 89 mph trap speeds.

Oh and the paint has cracked again, freaking went hard on it after the shocks and struts and springs were in, broke loose on me thoght it was cool until I checked the good ol b-pillars... nice crack in the passenger side lower portion and along the top, traditional hardtop cracks, in paint mind you but without the subframes its too easy for it to crack the paint...
