are you thoughing a SES light? i know when i was burning a chip once, and i got a bad burn, it threw and SES light (bad chip , so no code DOH) but the car idled at about 2k, and was really making a loud hissing/sucking sound. i think i was in limphome mode due to the bad chip.

no there wasnt any light, and i have the stock chip. this was the first time it ever did that. it idled normale.
starting up in the morning the iac typically opens up to aid in warm up and usally makes a loud sucking noise and gradually decreases as it warms up. next time it does that just put ur finger next to the hole and see if its sucking a lot of air if so stop it up for a sec or cup it and it should quite down if it does that is whats making that noise.

thats probably what it is, you are just hearing more throught the element, the factory filter housing ect, keeps the noises to a min. but if you put an open element on you will hear alot more engine noise.

exactly, put the stock housing back on, and see if it does it. they make noise, there is 305 cubic inches trying to suck air through a little ittty bittty hole. but the stock housing acts as a muffler, so you dont' normaly hear it.
