what would an LS1 cam do to a stock 305?

No problem. Generally, when it comes to the LS1 almost nothing will interchange over to a gen 1 sbc, except maybe the lifters, lol.

 

the 2nd gen (LT1) shares ALOT in common with the 1stgen (SBC)... the bottom end is VERY similar... heck even the heads bolt right up (athough the cooling ports dont match)

but the LS1 was a total redesign and a completely diff motor. very very few things interchange...

 

thanks, i'm building on a budget and every thing so far will bolt up if i swap to a 350, i know i want smooth power. i saw a 4th gen at the track do 120 mph, the car hardly made a sound when it went by. no idea what he had in it though ?
