I put my hemans on my car, it took a couple of hours, i had to unbolt the motor and raise the engine a little to get the drivers side in. Other then that it wasnt to bad.

I would say that 5 out of 6 people here instal their own headers. It isn't really hard. You just need time, some tools, and a lot of patience. You will swear, you will sweat, and you will think that you have totaly screwed your car, but you will get it done. Many novices here have done it successfully. Some people have done it in three hours, and others have taken days. It took me about 3 days working about 4 hours per day. I went very slow and learned a whole lot along the way. it is a rewarding feeling. The only hard part is trying to get you y pipe to fit to your cat and or cat back. You may have to drive with open headers to an exhaust shop to get it connected with thte rest of your system. I did and it was loud. Would I do it again....you bet I would.

Putting the headers in my car was like the least fun thing I have done on my car yet. Putting them in was easy , but taking the old manifolds out on the passenger side was a pain in the a$$. The drivers side took me about 1 hr give or take a min to take the old manifold off and put the header in, I had to take the valve cover off to move the header into position. The passenger side was hard because of the back bolts on the exhaust manifold, on mine the very back bolt was touching the box that has the heater core in it. So I had to take that out. I also had to take my dip stick out to put the header in on that side. The Y pipe took like 10 mins. All in all it took me about 5 hrs, and I was taking my time so I wouldnt get mad at anything. Good luck.

I got the 1 5/8 SLP headers awhile back form this board during a group purchase deal. It took me 2 days and believe it or not the driver side was harder to install. No I did not raise the motor to install the headers but maybe next time I do a header install on a chevy 3rd gen. I have have an after market cat so the SLP Y pipe did not bolt exactly to the cat. Notice a difference with the new header along with my borla exhaust and open air element. Good advice, make sure you have your spark plugs on prior to bolting the headers. Stupid me installed new spark plugs after I installed the headers. **For those individuals who purchased the SLP headers during the group purchase a long time ago, did you receive a CARB letter with your order? I never received one and I am up for a smog check.
