has anybody used tpi air duct to replace tbi air duct

trying to find out if it has been done or is worth while.I thought if you get a tpi air inlet setup and plastic duct it in .it would be alot better than these homemade jobs. and it would look factory done.then if you wanted to you could ram air through the fog light opening in front .here is a pick of what you would need except it shows the mass air sensor you dont need it you will need a piece of plastic pipe and clamps.let me know what your opinions are good or bad sorry couldnt get picture to come on.but you know what im talking about i think

Yes.
Ram air from grill (Z-28 style) to bottom of stock TPI intake is developed. Final touches going on now.

yes that is what im talking about it looks like it belongs there.if i can ask how did you make the piece that sits on the tbi.and was there a good increase on the top end that you could feel.i believe that air setup is 200 times better than the stock little 1 pc. opening.thanks for your help and the picture.I cant believe more people havnt done this yet.

This link gives a little more background on the unit.

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=196535

The piece that sits on the TBI is from a 93 Caprice stock air box. I constructed the plenum to transition from the Air box to the TPI hose. It allowed hood clearance and stock sensor location.

I can't speak to increase on top end since I installed a 350 at the same time. I just figured that if the stock TPI air intake can feed a 350 (at least in the view of the engineers of GM), it ought to be able to feed a TBI 350.

Nick- Thanks for the kudos-

BTW, where did you get that plastic hose that runs from the air box to the TPI air cleaner lid?

I was thinking of using the L69 Dual Snorkel step up, and then rigging a TPI intake to it as well. That way I would be getting tons of cold air.

You could also construct a system based on what Chevy High Permornance did in the latest issue. They modified the stock air intake on a LO5 caprice that made it a true cold air unit. It was not the best looking piece but it performed rather well.
