Wha-Whoo Ram Air finally!!!
Well I finally got it pieced together. Ram air boxes to the TPI aircleaner to a 3"x13" PVC pipe to an enclosed 10" aircleaner on the TBI. Next time I'm home, I'm gonna try using the caddy tbi housing again. It wouldn't clear the hood before, but now the 3" cowl I have a little more room. My enclosed 10" aircleaner is a little too on the "redneckish" side for my liking and not very sturdy or air tight, even if the caddy cleaner doesn't work I'm gonna fab something better, you'll see what I am talking about.
Hope to have pics tomorrow or wednesday, it all depends when I get my hands on a digital camera. I'll also have pics of the cervini 3" cowl finally as well.
As far as performance goes, it definetely feels better, but we all know how that goes.....it could always be wishful thinking....it definetely did not hurt performance though.
If I make it to the track before it closes for the season, I will do runs with and with out the system hooked up and post the gains.
FYI, running without the paper element yeilded me right around a mph in the traps

umm, is ther a gap between the thing going around the air cleaner and the filter element that the air can go thru?
cause it looks like that is only letting air thru the area where the tube attaches.

I had pictures of the ducts behind the grill, but I guess they did not take as she did not send them to me. I warned you guys that the system was "redneckish", but it definetely works. All I need now are the k&N filters, the paper ones really kill the flow. I took them out for one run(as I would do at the track) and there was a nice SOTP difference.

No sense spending a bunch to make if faster if it doesn't actually work, but looks good.

I hear ya va454
Here is one more. Also, notice how high the rpm airgap sits w/ the adapter plate. The aircleaner is roughly 2 1/2" tall. Maybe I'll get a digital camera for X-mas and can take better pics some time.

i dont think you understand what im saying.
you WANT there to be a gap.
you are trying to make the engine suck all its air thru that small filter opening.
go see your hood thread... i posted what i would do there.
if you choose not to do that, then atleast make a base plate for this one, and make a box or allow some area around the air cleaner so you can use the entire filter....

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am using the TPI air cleaners. You are thinking I am using a filter inside the edelbrock assembly, but I am not. I would have less than a 3" diameter filter area if I did that!

Also, just to clearify, the ducts are located right behind the grill. You can't see them in this pic, but they start there and run up to the tpi assembly, thus making for forced ram air, not loley cold air.
Of course, my set up pails in comparison to swerve-drivers, but essentially they do the same thing, I'm just guessing mine is not as efficient

Looks good =)
Getting ready to do a similar setup on mine (spare air cleaner from the v6, if I reuse it after the turbo's in, it'll suck the waste air from the intercooler.. no point), but I'm trying to figure out a way to put a 90 degree elbow on the throttle body instead of a circular air cleaner..

Cool man!
That looks like it will supply you with plenty of air-and some ramming effect at higher speeds. Will definetely get the job done and then some. I bet you'd notice a real difference come next July when it is really hot out.
I like tht you used the TPI filters and essentially made the edelbrock assembly a bonnet.

We won;t be able to compare efficiencies of our systems until I build and install a 383. Shooting for this winter.....
Probably too late this year, but I still think it would be fun to head to Rt. 66 in the future.

Yes- maybe Barney couldn't get his big, fat, gay azz out of the way of a car that does 105+ thru the traps.
You got a problem with that?

I knew somebody was gonna say something about the color.......
Anyways, it's just model paint I picked up from wal-mart, and it actually looks pretty nice up close. I was trying to stay away from black as my whole engine bay is that color, but unfortuantly the purple turned out lighter than I was hoping.
So I may or may not change it. I may leave it that color because I like the way it stands out.
Kinda like swerve said, make fun all you want, but I'll be the one laughing at the finish line
