12's with TBI???
Is anyone in the 12's using TBI, stock or otherwise? If so, post your combo!

r90camarors should definitely be into the 12's now with his setup. Do a search if you want to see what it is. He's there with a 383 stroker N/A.

That file needs updating. I have new best times and so do many others. It would be nice to start a spreadsheet that gets updated by anybody but backups are made every few days.
Anybody know how to start such a file online that anybody can edit and save?

I've been playing with wiki for some document management - here's a quick example of how this could be used in this example - I filled in my current info and added some other rows for comparison.
http://www.technovelocity.com/cgi-bi...pl?TbiRegistry
If you click on my boardname you can see my setup - each person could edit their own any time they wanted.
Downside - someone can wipe it if they wanted (I can do some backup scripts)
Downside - No sorting - BUT you can cut & paste from the page into excel and then easily sort if you want...
Upside - everyone can edit their own info - no need to email & wait.
If you guys like this concept, I can take a better shot at it, and make its own wiki (its within my main wiki now)

Awesome. I was only seeing 13's N/A with TBI and I was wondering if there was anyone running 12's with TBI. At least I can honestly defend TBI more easily when people say it doesn't power fast engines!!!

Very nice. Thanks for the support.
It would still be nice to have a universal database of all thirdgen members and be able to sort multiple columns. Example, First sort by induction so all TBI are grouped, then by ET, then by mph, etc.
I think excel would be required.

I do that kind of stuff at work. If I could get a server I could deploy a java app on with a little database behind it, I could whip that up real easy.

TonyC- Agreed- you do not get nearly enough credit for the work
you do. It is useful and appreciated! I think most of the required fields are contained in your spreadsheet and it would be an excellent guide if Chuck decides to go ahead build his app. Or we could continue with Tony's spreadsheet.
I am trying to think of a good way to keep things from getting out of hand on a db that is accesible by everyone. That functionality would be sweet. But, after reading some of the rips about TBI times over on the TPI boards, the last thing we need is some dingus that just had his first beer posting that he ran a 9.20 in the quarter just to see his name at the top of the TBI list.
Might also be nice if a link could be created from the posters time record to their thridgen.org user profile- maybe that could be expanded to include more specific tech info on their car such as suspension work ala Chevyhakers idea...

This would all be on the web so you wouldnt need to download anything and it'd run on everyone's computer, id build interfaces to update and ****, and have different levels of users. I'd like to have it where you could filter by "verified" times, where a time slip was uploaded and checked by a mod or admin, then they could mark it verified. . I'd host it from my comptuer here with a server, but UD wont allow incomming traffic from the outside world. I'll have to see what I can find for cheap hosting.

Excellent ideas on the registry guys. The current one is nice as is, albiet, needing updating as mentioned.... It would be sweet to make it user accesable, however as S-D mentioned, there could be a possible fraud problem.
In response to the origional topic, I am very confident that 11s are there once I get my suspension and chassis hooked up. As it is now, traction is my main restriction as far as "time" is concerned. But just for numbers, my old setup yeilded a best of 13.432 and a trap best of 105.39mph. Slicks would have more than likely got me into the 12s at the time.

your ET's will drop.
I had stock 305TBI rs with 3.73's ,235/60R15's,and High flow Exhaust ran 15.65@91.7mph. you could proly improoveyour E/T's by at least .2??? and with my heavy foot it got 15-17mpg.
sept on the aveenue cruzin and racing it dropped to the 11-13mpg range....
fun car Dude affered me $2,500 cash for it I only had $1,200 in cluding buying the car. $1,200 thats it. :hail:
so I sadly sold it......

I'm hoping...
I have just finished a 383 build with: cam 282 intake/282 exhaust Duration at .050 in. cam lift 224 intake/224 exhaust, Gross valve lift: .465 in. intake/.465 in. exhaust, Lobe separation: 114 degrees, Stock L98 Heads, Ultimate TBI mods, TBI Riser, Injector Spacer, Edlebrock Performer TBI Intake, custom midlength headers, custom Y pipe, 3" flowmaster exhaust w/ Cutout, 3.42 Posi Rear end, open element, !Smog Pump, MSD ignition, 180* T-Stat, Stall Converter (not sure what, feels like 1800 or so), Shift Kit.
I haven't layed into it yet, as it's not broken in, but it sounds nice and feels real agressive down low. I'm hoping for low 13's, high 12's on the outside. It's not as fast as my 11 Sec LS1, but it's BEASTLY down low.

3.42's LoL
i'd get some 3.73's For a TBI engine.
It don't seem like much I know, thats what i thought when I First got my GTA's.
But I swapped the 3.42's out fOR 3.73'S in my 91 GTA.
my 87 GTA L-98 has 3.23's but it soon will be Getting 3.73's.
thought yeah right Old man 3.73 ta 3.43 not that big of a Difference.
Well I was prooved Wrong.
I droped my E/T's all Most a whole second.
91 GTA Ramair2: 350TBI,700R4,3.42's:15.69@90.2mph .
91 GTA Ramair2: 350TBI,700r4,3.73's:14.86@95.78mph .
Not sure what 3.73's will do for my TPI but they helped my TBI out alot.
well it did get a tyne up,xetreme open element air filter, and i did have a 3" single exhaust dual tip exhaust.
when i made the second run.
so i sposed it wasn't all gear's but the gear's did help alot.

I'm Getting the info I need in the TPI section about making my 3.73's work with ,my L-98........
But anywho you can trust me or not, But I'd swapp your 3.42' for 3.73's.
your MPG Don't change Much but your city MPG is inprooved.
I got 21mpg Hwy,16,mpg city,if I was driving Normale. but that wasn't very offten.
But On the Avenue Racing was around 11-13MPG depending on how hard i was running it.

I find it very hard to believe your trap speeds went up 5 1/2 mph from a gear swap. That doesn't happen.

gay cheap exhaust but it worked at the time.
Now with the 406TBI it's going to have a 2.5" true dual's,Just cause thats the exhaust i like.

305RS,
Check my sig below to see my setup. I went down to belleville IL this weekend, near st. louis, and earned a couple of very nice street kills. First was a new Porcshe 911 on the highway starting at 70mph. At 135, I called it quits as I was a good car and a half length in front of him. That was with my 200 lb friend in the passanger seat. Of course the porcshe made it a point to keep going.....needless to say judging from the width of the rear tires and the given all wheel drive, I assume He would have killed me off the line if we went from a stop. My other kill was a fox body supercharged 5.0 GT. Other than exhaust and the whine of the supercharger, it appeared close to stock. Anyways, I pretty much smoked him. All He could say was "How did you get that so fast!?". I guess the RS badging still fools some people.......
Unfortuantly, The race with the porsche was the final straw as far as my 5th gear syncro is conserned. Wierd thing is I wasn't powershifting, and never have, I've always used the clutch as intended. I don't know. But at least it was fifth and not anything lower I guess. I can still make quarter mile passes. Worse comes to worse, I can still shift into fifth, I just need to pull the previous gear to over 4k. Also, hopefully I'll have the new style g-tech with in a month or so, which will hopefully hold me over until the track opens up.
Also, future mods that WILL be taken care of as far as the engine is concerned are:
*New exhaust. Currently I am running with a cutout, but that is after the y pipe goes to the single 2.5 piping, and the cutout was simply welded on and angles out and isn't in line with the flow of the pipe, so believe it or not, most of the exhaust still goes through the cat and flowmaster.
*Lots of chip tuning, hopefully with a wb o2
*Possibly I'll reinstall the 1.6 rr. I'll have to look at the MAP data and see if it's a good idea or not. The engine makes power to the chip cutoff as it is now, so I don't know.
*electric water pump. everylittle bit helps.
*Ram air will be going back on when it warms up. Unfortuantly, the tbi ices over with it installed and anything under 40 degrees.
So much to do, so little time and money.

I Bet it will run 12's or 11's........and it's TBI.
I so Hate hearing "TBI has no performance or power"
so I'm Building 2 TBI's that will Rock any: TPI,LT-1,LT-4,LT-5,LS-1,
LS-6'S MIGHT Get me Around 120-130mph...............Well On the Avenue/street Anyway.........Now watch it sit and spin and run a 18 second run Just my Luck.....
My AMC390 TBI is going to take alot to to keep up with more less Beat, well it was an awsome TBI 390 But I am building it up a bit more.......9.60's in the 1/4Mile is fun but why Not run 9.40's-9.20's.........
1969 S/S AMX : 390DUAL QAUD TBI.
Top speed:176mph@9,350rpm's.
1/4 Mile E/T': best 9.63@143mph 1.352-60FT.
S/S AMX:Has Been running in the mid ot high 9's sence 78.
so longevity has been awsome.
it was retired in 1982.it's been showen on and off For year's i got it Given to me in 2001 by My Granddad.
I run it a few time's a year. But it's starting to eat oil. so I pulled it out to rebuild it then I decided to improove it well What an interesting$$$$$exspirence this has been still a way's from done but it's coming along nicely.
But Every 2year's sence retirement granddad reringed it and new bearing's every 2 year's too keep solid and tight.
I ran it a few time more offten then he did just a smige Harder too...after 3year's it sorta started blowing oil not much tho,And at $8.50/QT for oil it was rebuild time.
It's not a Third Gen but it is a "TBI Powered Car" running 9.60's, ReLaibley driving to show's and the Avenue/strip For what 20+. year's.........
Ok Well i have gotten oiff the subject now about 100Miles off sorry guy's.
Your all thinking " oh Good for your AMX Now Shut up" then"we want to know about F-body's Mainly third gen's"
so I'm sorry......................

r90camarors, taking a 911! That's awesome. I don't care what type of intake I was running, I just wish I could do that.:hail:
One of these days....But still, since I know the power potential of TBI, I don't think I'll be switching over to the more expensive MPFI anytime soon. That's awesome guys...especially sub 10's with TBI.....SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET:lala:

Thank you for the complement 305rs.
Personally, I think the only thing that has ever held the tbi back is lack of experimentation and the lo3 or lo5 that it sat on. It is really great to finally see people building engines from the ground up and going from there. For so long it has been about theory and what not, but most of the myths are finally starting to be tossed out the door.
Hopefully, when I start work on the tranny, I can install an aluminum flywheel if I have enough cash. It should help out a bit, especially considering the wieght of the stock lt1 flywheel in there now.
Personally, I think the only thing that has ever held the tbi back is lack of experimentation and the lo3 or lo5 that it sat on. Actually, I was wondering about the engine specs. It does look very nice though.
Running times like that and succesfully running a supercharger is a feat to say the least, so expect many questions
Not too many people have supercharged tbi f-bodies, and I don't think there has been a lot of success.
How did you go about the supercharger setup? Details would be cool, shoot even if you started a new thread on it.

Cool thread!
Anybody running 12's street trim no power adder and TBI
. I'd like to see this happen more often since there are a bunch of n/a TPI small blocks in the 12's.
I would do it but I have the desire to carry around my own atmosphere. Something about adding only 40lbs to the car but resulting in +100hp or more.....

Hey Now the AMX is running all Engine and turnning Mid 9's and it's TBI injected Why don't it count????
it was running 9.80's carbed Then when I TBIed it,The AMX dropped into the 9.60's,Consistant even......
When I'm Done with the new setup it should be in the 9.40's-9.20's on Engine, but it will have boost.
Running either an 871Blower or dual Procharger's. Not sure Yet still chatting with the AMC guy's on that one.
O h I get it I'm on ignore Ain't I..........

You're not on ignore man. Those are really great numbers, and details on your setup would be great. Even if you started a new post telling us about it as well. Any and all performance info is more than welcome here. Seeing that you drop .2 sec after the tbi swap says a lot as well.
Maybe the only thing that will keep some people silent on this board in respect to your setup is that it may be out of reach for most of us, in that I assume you are running dual 4bbl tbis? But on the same note, there are many that welcome it including myself. Keep up the great work and definetely tell details. I am very interested, as are many others. :hail: :hail: :hail:

yeah i went from 2-850cfm 4bbl carbs to 2-900cfm 4bbl TBI's.....
I can't wait to Run this car after it's done but it might be 10 year's.
cause i desided to pull the whole car apart and rebuild the whole car as well as beef up the drive line a bit more....so it maybe year's before it run's again but i'll be here to post as soon as it is done and been ran..........
Because my main project is my 91 GTA but i am Trying to build up the 87 GTA at the same time..............
So 3 car's and Little income right at the time is going to take a while.................
But the 406 is built For the 91 GTA now ,it's just making the car ready for it...........
so i need to invest about $2,000 in the 87 GTA about $4,000-$6,000in the 91GTA...........and I just got informed it going to caost me about $40,000 to reBuild the entire AMX now i wish i hadn't all ready pull it apart
But oh well it needed to be done so now it will get done....
so the 87 GTA will be the first to have new time's poasted. but i'll be here. to keep every thing updated on progress.....

Not too many people have supercharged tbi f-bodies, and I don't think there has been a lot of success.
How did you go about the supercharger setup? Details would be cool, shoot even if you started a new thread on it.

The supercharger was originally installed back in 1995. I purchased the kit from Summit for $2,400. Paxton sold the kit as a TBI camaro kit but it was really designed for the Chevrolet pick up truck and Paxton later discontinued the kit. The kit included an upgraded in-tank fuel pump and all necessary parts.
As far as the motor goes it is the orginal 305 with 95k miles. The only modification to the motor itself is an Edelbrock TBI performer intake. I have never been in the motor itself.
I traded the orginal SN93 in for the current SN2000 unit after the unit failed. (blew a rear seal)
Modifications and tuning specs:
MSD 6A ignition
MSD coil
Turbo City TBI modifications
Injector spacer
Headman full length headers 1 5/8" primary
Supercharger is putting out 10 PSI of boost at 5k
I am running a factory chip
Timing is advanced 10 degrees
Fuel pressure is at 20 PSI at idle and goes up to about 44 PSI at full boost, controlled by the FMU.
Car wieghs 2850# w/o driver.
Car has never been on a dyno but using 1/8 and 1/4 mile times, mph and wieght to calculate, crank HP is in the 330-350 range.
I would be glad to answer any questions about the car.
Mark
It was basicly the same way as dual procharger's with a carbed end engine just 0.75" thick spaceR...
got The Hollet ECM Whipped most of it out and reprogramed it so the new setup and it should run 9.20's but i'll be happy with 9.40's.
OLD SETUP:
AMC390 sTock bore.
12.75:1C/R.
crossram intake.
2-900CFM Holley TBI's.
295*Dur.580Lift.
Stock S/S 390 heads.
Stock AMC headers.
stage 2 Clucth Close ratio 4spd.
AMC20 Diff,4.44gear's.
28x10R15'sRear.
225/60R15'sFront.
is the set up that yeiled the 9.60 run's.
NEW SETUP:
AMC390 punched out .040,9.2:1,307*Dur.625Lift,indy head's, Dual procharger's,and 2-900cfm 4bbl holley TBI's.
stage 3 clutch,close ratio 4spd.
Dana/AMC20 rearend,4.44:1 gear's.
28X12R15's in the rear.
245/50R15's in the front.
Torque Thrust d wheel's.
1-5/8th header's,sidepipe's.
THIS SHOULD YIELD 9.20's, but It could only hit 9.40's.
But I should Run faster then the 9.60's.....
Hopefully if i do all this work and spend the $40,000 to rebuild whole car and still run 9.60's or worse yet drop back to 9.80's or somthing.......I'll be one Mad S O B........

Wow, this is sort of back from the dead.
I'd be willing to help out as needed. I'm not much of a coder, but I do know my way around Unix really well. It would be really neat to have the ability to upload an Image of your timeslip, with an image uploaded, it makes the time as 'verified' vs. not.
Anyway, hopefully, i'll be in the 12's this season. (everyone pray for my T5)

Hey Dewey I checked out "anesthes'" buildup and he's running a stock T5. That gave me a little more confidence in it, he's running a pretty stout motor, might want to check out his setup.
