Aftermarket cam VS. LT1 cam?

Here in the near future i am going to be doing a Cam/Intake Swap and try to get in the 14's. My question is, what if i was to get an aftermarket cam with the same specs (Lift, Duration, all that) as a LT1 cam I would get the same results right?

If you copied the specs I would say yes, but why? There are much better cams out there.

So many grinds, so many options, lifts, durations, the options are countless.

If you are doing a head swap would not waste your time on an LT1 cam. Chances are that your new heads would allow greater than .480" lift (not if you use un-touched GM castings though). The LT1 cam is nice when you keep the stock heads. Better heads will allow for a biger cam. Cam specs should be based on intake and head combo.

stock heads are sheit, i've been reading alot about them lately, you're much better off finding used TPI heads, vortecs, or a whole new engine for that matter.

Even with the stock heads, lift isn't the only thing to consider. There are a lot better cams out there than the LT1 cam for the stock heads for lift, duration, etc. Unless money is a big factor, I'de go with another grind from comp or another reputable company that will yield better results in the end.

Engine: 350tpi comming soon!
Transmission: fixed the 700r4 again!
i recently instaled an l98 cam inplace if the stock cam and although i need some chip tunning when combined with my other mods to get it to run half way decent you just adjust the fuel pressure. i have noticed a big differance even though i dont even have a good tune right now. 305 tpi heads awould also be a good upgrade to do with any cam upgrade espically if you do some minor home porting amd you already have doen exhaust work.

The only reason i say LT1 cam is because thats what everyone says to use. I wont be changing heads anytime soon, just cam and intake, and im not sure yet but i might switch to carburated.
