crazy idea for a S/C or turbo Tbi

im not sure if this would work, or be plausible at all, but i was thinking about how to overcome the fuel limitations of a tbi systems (and i want to see a supercharged or turboed tbi) and i got this crazy idea.

now before you knock me on this, im not even suggesting that this is possible or wether its been discussed, it was just a thought that passed through my brain.

so have mercy.

what if you used a tbi nitrous plate to spray just fuel regulated by a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator? you could even use a TB spacer and plumb it with nitrous jets. could you even get enough PSI and volume of fuel for this? im sure that the PROM wizards on this board could figure out a way to make this work with the computer.

just a thought...

Only problem is that the extra fuel would be an on / off switch, and your boost .......isn't. So during that time your either going to be crazy rich or crazy lean, neither is good when your making over 400 hp.

Seriously there is no reason to stick with TBI over 400 HP, you're starting to tap out the 2" throttle bores, and the injectors are getting so big that it's hard to tune for a decent idle. I love TBI as much as the next guy, but you have to accept it's limitations.

It "could" work. If you used a hobbs switch to activate the fuel noid to spray in the fuel, then had a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. It would be HELL to tune it to actulay get you the right AFR under all the conditions.

I'm am with BMmonteSS on this one. If you really want to go that crazy, you are probably better off with a diffrent induction type, and a computer system that handles boost properly.

Maybe this could be a job for the EBL and a 4bbl Holley? It would be interesting.

Actually, it is working (4 inj driver). The issue is that I haven't been able to wring it out myself on a live vehicle. I'm a stickler about testing. On paper, and on the bench it works great. I do have a 4bbl TBI on the way. Once I have it I'll use a converted ECM and hammer it.

Once I'm happy with it it'll be available. 800 HP here we come!

If anyone is in the SE of Pa. and would like to be a tester, please let me know (PM is fine).

RBob.

P.S. the EBL handles boost via a 2-bar MAP sensor.

P.P.S. a 2bbl TBI can work up to 500 HP. With higher fuel pressures, a VAPFR, and the EBL, it will work.

NIfty unit, but do you realize what that costs? $350 - $380 depending upon options. The EBL setup along with a 4-inj modified ECM will be less then that.

I wouldn't mind testing it, if I were closer. Already have the manifold for it even. It would be really nice to get the smaller primary bores along with the stagged secondary bores for improved mileage. The 454 TBI unit does not do well on mileage around town. Basically it becomes an on-off switch.
