Is This A TBI Tech Board Or TBI Board?

I was reading your post Zant69 and I thought it was a VERY good post. A lot of what you said was true. But is this a tbi tech board or tbi board? I consider this place where tbi people hang out and ask tech questions. It isn't labeled JUST tbi tech. So what is it? To me, like i said, its a place where people that have your engine, know how it runs and what it can do, hang out together. You can ask question like "would this be a good idea to do this swap?" and other things. But what I think snflupigus and I think of this board is where we know everyone. A lot of the people I talk to on thirdgen.org are right here. Kinda like a group of friends that hang out together and talk about similar stuff cause they have similar things u have. snflupigus I think just wanted our opionions because we are "the group" We are where he hangs out at and talks with. Why couldn't I post something like, "who do u think would win?" All of you people would know because you have the same engines and have experinced the same mods we have. So why close it down? Cause we fight about our opionions? In a way, both sides of the argument (minus the name calling) have a lot of info for whoever in the future archives or now. Maybe I am wrong. Threads that would be closed would be stuff that is just flat out hate towards us as a group, not as an individual. Cause individuals will always have difference's between them. But as a TBI group we all have the same thing going on, u know? Like if a TPI guy that came into our thread, never had anything to do with TBI ever, do u think he would want to stick around and hang out in our tbi threads? or in the TPI threads? Cause I will tell ya, if there was a bar where chevy guys like us would meet and there were different places in the bar and the TBI guys were over in this area, I would talk to u guys, (of course hang out with the other chevy guys) but mostly talk to u guys.

I guess just leave your opionions on what you guys think. Do u think you know what I am talking about? Do you agree or disagree? and why do u agree and disagree. Write what you think what this TBI board is to you. Tech or a place to hang out or both? Do u agree that we should close down all threads that have nothing to do with TBI? Or has nothing to do with TECH ON TBI? Should Pablo probably close this thread? Don't be afraid to get involved. There really is no side to this. Just opinions on what the TBI board is to you. So if you read a lot of posts but never respond, now is you chance to respond.

From the front page of Thirdgen.org, where you came before you signed up and agreed to the terms of registration:

"This site is a technical site. All non tech posts will be deleted. If you wish to post non-technical stuff, please visit Macgyver's North East ThirdGen site."

'Nuff said?

Some of you people are constantly trying to turn this new Thirdgen.org into the "old" Thirdgen.org and the owner and admins and moderators of this site constantly have to monitor your non-tech stuff, even though you agreed to abide by the new site rules when you came back here.

Foreget it! This is "pure tech" and if you want non-tech, want to "hang out", etc you know where to take it. Now, stop posting non-tech crap here......

well if thats how everybody feels, why dont we just split the whole site up into fifteen different one. and guess where everybody wont be. Thirdgen.org. the tech site. I come here for tech questions. about my car. if i post in the general engine, its gets lost. if i post here. i know who is answering the post. i FIRMLY beleive that if this place stays. STRICTLY non-tech. it will die. i dont know about everybody else. but i like this place because i feel like i know everybody. everybody that has ever responded to one of my posts, i would consider as a friend. friends have differences and friends have disagreaments. but the thing that makes them friends is what they have in common to begin with. i dont know how many of you guys have 15 friends out there in non computer land that drive the same kind of car you do that you could ask them anything and they would know the answer. i think we need to have a little bit of togetherness and heart. for us that are here everyday, this is a tech and nontech site. for those of you that come here and use this place only when your car breaks down. its a tech site.
i prefer to know people that i converse with. and i prefer to have already made a relationship with the people that i just might have to ask a question to someday. not come here once every 2 years (roughly how often my car breaks down) and ask a stranger for help.

honestly i dont really care what anybody else thinks about what i think, i just wanted to get my opinion out there. so dont contest my arguements or disagree with me. i dont care. i just needed to say what i had to say.

so shut this down, and shut all the non tech down, and kill the moral and newly created friendships between people who have a lot more in common than their cars, and just happen to gather here to discuss, it.

one more thing to add. i also think that the moderators job isnt to hunt down the non tech, because i know pablo's responses arent always 100% tech. I think its their job to moderate, or keep non-tech in moderation.
Not wipe it out completely. If that was the case we would call the moderators. Police.
I think pablo is doing a great job and i knew he would close that post, i didnt expect him not to. but i figured i could get at least one or two responses and opinions before he did. which i did, and it solved the problem. go to the link. non tech helps sometimes. https://www.thirdgen.org/messageforu...ML/000117.html

doin a great job pablo, dont become the gestapo, just keep doin exactly what you are doin. im not trying to disrupt the tech-ness, just create a community

I have no problem with the "tech-only" setup..That's what I come here for, anyway. I come here to get information, and also to give some info (when I can). Before I knew of this place, there were so many things about My car that were a mystery to Me. Now, i know that I can get an answer to ANYthing I can think of to ask. What a resource! Where else can You go for that? NOwhere...I just don't understand why some guys get all bent out of shape about stuff. Somebody wants to know what they can do to their 305 and there are people who just want to post and say the 305 isn't worth modding. Why? Why bother posting an answer to something that wasn't even the question? If someone asks "is My 305 worth modding" then go nuts... but, that last fiasco that resulted after My post, was "what's the stock HP of a 91' RS" ....nothing worth 60 posts of hatred. It made Me feel bad, like I had started the whole thing. All I wanted to know was what was the stock HP of My car. The result was fighting and people telling Me my car was a POS. The ONLY time I reply to any post is if I think I can help (with what little bit I know) I'm not angry at anyone...I don't hate ANY third gen for any reason. If I see a third gen coming down the road, I wave or give a thumbs up...and they usually do it back. I don't ONLY wave at "my kind" of third gen... or say,"well that's a v6 one, I ain't waving at him" I enjoy the comradery and the bond... I thought it was like that here, too. I was wrong. I want to thank the moderators, admin., Dirk, etc, for the best thirdgen resourse I ever could've wanted. And I'm sorry this is nontech. I'll abide by the rules and be glad I can come here. Long live the third generation! All of em'!
Thanks.

I respect Dirks wishes to keep the site tech based. Specially with idiots making topics like "can my whatever beat a Mustang GT" in the old thirdgen tech section. If it's semi-technical and involves the forums topic I guess it's ok, but if you want true non-tech Mac's nethirdgen.org is right around the corner. No one is holding your hand or stopping you.

My only wish is that people (mainly newbies) would do a simple search before asking commonly asked questions. For example: look at the exhaust forum, there must be 25 topics about dual exhaust since thirdgen.org reopened and all I see is everyone making a topic asking if it's posable, yet In the first five topics people have clearly responded saying they're either done it or it can be done. In otherwords if they would have just put done a simple search they would have had their answer right that moment. Then if they don't get a response they get pissed off and claim no one wants to answer their questions.

NOTE: This response is just my opinion and is not aimed at anyone so I don't want anyone to start crying on my behalf.

tom keliher with all do respect ease up on him. He only wanted to see what this board is all about. There is no reason for the sarcasim. I think thats what everyone is talking about that starts arguements. Comments that are givin in more of a rude tone.

I think this board is both tech and non tech. But i dont see y we wouold have to classify it either way. Its where people come to talk about/get help on thier TBI equipped 3rd gens. Be it help on modding or simply to talk about beating something with ur TBI it is just a TBI board to me

I'm not sarcastic. I'm not rude.

I'm a curmudgeon!

Actually, I'm just very "to the point". I don't mince words and I don't say more than is necessary to get the point across.

Plain and simple, everyone knew the return of Thirdgen.org was as a "tech only" site.

I don't understand why you all can't simply accept that????

The reason the old thirdgen.org went through what it did, was because of the non tech!

As to the comment that if this site is tech only, it will die........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This site has EXPLODED since returning as a tech only site. Let's try to keep it that way, OK? Take your non tech to Mac's site, and keep this site tech only.

WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO COMPREHEND??
