us 170HP stock vs. them 260 Hp stock

What are their torque specs? That might help us figure out a strategy.

i think the 260 hp from the mustangs is a little overrated. I know thats what the brochure says but i believe i saw it dynoed at like 240hp. could be wrong though.

with the times that they run (low low 14s on the 5 speeds) they have every bit of that 260hp, and perhaps even more.

ya it would be good to see what TQ they have and where the TQ and HP is at.

5.0L TBI vs 4.6L GT
170Hp to 260 HP
255TQ to 305TQ
5000RPM redline to 5800RPM redline (6200 rev limiter)

hmm what are the specs on the 5.0L TPI and 5.0L Vortec?

Vortec = 230HP 285TQ in a big truck

new mustangs are the biggest victoms on the road. a ton of cash for a poorly geared and overweight car. they do pull really hard on the top end, but they get out of the hole terrible. i love messing with those guys

teh average guy with a new stang is no real match for a still conservative lo3 owner. most of the street dwellers that i have seen at the track get between 14.4 and 14.6 out of them. the good stick drivers can go .1's in the same car. with a full exhaust, tires, and some gear those things are capable of 13.6's from what i have seen at etown. most people who buy mustangs aren't smart enough to do these things so we don't really hafta worry about it

The horsepower rating of an engine is not what it puts down at the rear wheels, but how much power that goes into the transmission, called the flywheel horsepower. 240 HP at the rear wheels out of an engine rated at 260 HP is good!

MrJ, You said 4.6L 5 speeds are running "low low 14's",are you talking about stock?? The best I've seen stock ones running ( and I see a lot, it seems everybody wants a Mustang around here) is around 14.7 - 14.5 range. I saw 3 Cobras a few weeks ago, and they were only only running high 13.70 - 13.80's.
