Help, Car is Dead!!
I started up my car this morning fine and went back inside to let it warm up, when i came out it was dead. I started it back again and the idle kept going to 1500 and to about 200 and back to 1500 and so forth. Giving it gas wouldn't help much. Finally it died and now it wont start at all. I had my friend crank it while i checked the TBI and there was no fuel coming out of the injectors at all. I'm thinking its either the fuel pump, frozen fuel line, or clogged injectors?? I really don't know how to diagnose the problem and where to begin. Thanks for any help.

Hmm, i was going to say fuel filter but not anymore lol. Try putting injector cleaner in ur car and running it through by trying to start it. Probably have to hook up ur battery with another cars while running so ur battery don't run out. If that don't work then maybe u have bad injectors or ur fuel pump may be out. Also...check ur gas.

well if his injectors are cloged to the point that they wont spray at all i doubt a fuel injector cleaner will help much. Go down to pep boys and get a TBI tune up kit. Comes with new screens o rings and all other gaskets. Even has a new fuel pressure regulator. The kit is 45$ and thats wheere i would start first if i where u. That could explain a high 16 second run like that. a stock LG4 with an auto should be running high 16s so u should be in high 15 second territory in proper tune.

Thanks, i didn't know they sell kits like that. I'll get one of those and at the same time i'll do the ultimate TBI mods. I'm gonna wait till later in the day when it gets a little warmer, i relly think this problem is due to the extremely cold weather that we had this morning. My buggles up my nose froze as soon as I walked outside.
So its probably a frozen fuel line. I was thinking about going under the car with a hair dryer.

After waiting a few hours, i cranked the car again and it started right up, but it only ran for 2 mins again and now its dead again. I told this to a mechanic and he says it doesn't sound like a fuel pump. But if it is, hes gonna charge me 50 for towing, 50 for diagnosing, 100 for fuel pump, and 300 for installation.
Can i disconnect the fuel line that goes into the tbi and crank the car and see if there is fuel coming out of the hose, or does this only work for carburated cars?

You have an electric fuel pump in the gas tank. All you have to do to make it pump is turn the key to the on possition. No need to crank the engine.Better have the fuel line stuck in a empty two litter, or somthing like that.Have somone else turn the key on and off so you can watch the flow.Good luck!

the first step that i would take would be to pull the codes. It will help eliminate the problem.
