To Install or not to Install...that is the question

I have a set of 1 3/4" SLP's sitting in my garage asking to be installed!! But I've have mixed feedback on whether the loss of torque would be large or minimal when installing these on a LO3. Some have said yes..others no. I'm itching to install these, but don't want to lose drivability because of them. If that is the case they can wait for the 355 :-) I was just looking for some info to help me decide. BTW I plan on having 3.42's and a SLP take-off posi installed within the next month.
My mods are:
K&N Open Element, MSD 6AL, Taylor wires, 3" Flowmaster w/Cut-out.

Thanks,
CptMidway

INSTALL!!! But be sure you do the y pipe and catback too!

To hell wiwh low end torque, its way overrated! (not like youd lose much at all anyways and the 3.42s will more than make up for that)

expect about a .3-.5 improvement

If it were me, I would wait untill you get your 355 ready to install. If you haven't put headers on a third gen before, it can be a realopain in the *** . Especially when your talking about using 1 3/4 primaries. Remember your going to have a clearance problem with the right side hitting the steering shaft. It can be rectified with a larger engine mount off a truck. But once again. this would be easier to accomplish with the engine out.

If you do pan on putting them on you might want to use an engine hoist and move the motor aroung a bit, the headers will fit in easier. You are going to loose alot of bottom end with that bigoftube though, I think you should stay were your at untill you swap motors.
Hope I was a help.

I agree what Andy said. You will loose a lot of low end tq and it will be a b*tch to install because of the 1-3/4 primaries. I also heard something about using different size motor mounts to help with clearance when using them size headers. Seems like I saw it over on nethirdgen.org 84ZZ4 I think was talking about it. Anyways, its something I just remembered.

I agree with Pablo. Get them *****-fukaz on there. It'll make a difference that you can feel. Get a 3" cat-back to go with 'em...you won't be sorry.

I'd say why do twice the work? If you're going to put in a 350 engine soon, put the headers in at the same time. Its much easier that way.
And about the clearance problems, it was found you can move the steering column over a tad by loosening the bolts that hold it in place, moving it, then retightening them.

Replacing the motor mounts helped some people, and others it didnt. My headers went right in.
