I made my own out of an old cutting board that I got from a yard sale for a dime (I am a cheap @$$.) It is plastic and it works great. You don't want an inch one though because you will have to lengthen your throttle cables and that is a PAIN! Mine is 3/8 and it just barely worked. they are also VERY easy to make. Just trace your TBI gasket onto the plastic piece and cut away. Did mine in about 1 hour from start to finish. Pretty simple. Toughest part is getting the fuel lines to bend to the proper angle. Godd luck. Any questions just e-mail me.

I was shocked to see that companies sold a taillight

dude, you should seriously think about changing your username, because you spelled camaro wrong.
anyway, you wont notice any real gains from a spacer. they are used for fine tuning. say, after you would finish an engine. you use 'em to adjust your powerband very slightly. but, they do probably help give the fuel time to atomize.

I just put in the half inch one from turbocity. It was like 45 bucks plus 9 for the instalation kit. i would spend the money and get it from them. They give you longer bolts and new gaskets. An inch is to high and you will have troubles putting it in. I was able to lift up the TBI unit and slide my spacer in. helps to have another set of hands to help. I didn't have to disconnect anything off of the TBI itself which made it easy. It was hard to get the gaskets from sliding around though, but no biggy. I would get a half inch spacer and then an open element. BIG TIME difference to a stock car with exhaust. The only problem I had was getting the car to go back to an idle. My throttle linkae was streched like 1/16"...just enough to raise the idle. I had to take off the cap and loosen the throttle linkage bracket and wiggle it forward. That gave me perfect cable length and corrected the problem. Let me know if you need more info. This is a really easy mod well worth the money. But it works better with an open element.

FYI, I work for a company that has CNC machining equipment and I'm going to make mine out of aluminum. I've already drawn it up in AutoCAD based on the gasket and my buddy at work has loaded it into his CAD/CAM software. Now we've just got to find some scrap aluminum and load the program into the Fadal. I think we're going to make it 1/2" thick, but the cool part is that I can easily make another one if this one doesn't work properly. I'm gonna polish it up and all that jazz, too.

I'll make one for you and when it said out of cutting board that could be either wood or high temp plastic. Wood is actually a great heat isolator and if you read through Summit or Jegs you'll see the spacers being made out of all kinds of stuff. I'd try a combination of all that stuff. Can somebody see a problem using 3 different layers in a sandwich form? Say 1/8" each of wood and plastic imbetween aluminum? I know this sounds a bit on the creative side.

I would stick with alluminun or plastic. Yes wood is very porus and fairly heat resistant it breaks down and can be subject to cracking and spliting. I would suggest plastic but make sure it is a resin material and or fiberglass. Some plastic can melt (not from heat) but from gasoline touching it. Example. Take the material you are going to use and soak it in some gas overnight. Pick it up and if it is not slipery (not from the gas but from liquified plastic) than don't use it. I would just use alluminum because it looks better, lasts longer, disspenses heat well, and won't fall apart. Plus a sandwich might actually work against you if the inside is not completely smooth. If there are lips from each layer the air entering will become turbulent and won't enter into the manifold as smoothly as alluminum which has a low coefficient of friction.

Turbocity claims 11hp at the wheels but I seriously doubt that. I felt a big difference but it might be from my open element which I put on the same time. I would say a few ponies but better throttle response and better mileage.
