Call me 350TBI guy from now on!

It's in and it's running real good. This car has some ***** now. I didn't even go above 3500rpm and I toasted my friends 01 1.8T jetta. It's good to be back into the drivers seat of the car again. One thing I wish I had gotten the time to fix is the front suspension. The struts are all shot and they make metal clang noises constantly.
I found out that the timing tape was installed wrong on my car so I'm going to give my friend a call and yell at him . So basically I'm running with a guestimated timing. Thank god for the knock sensor and ECM or I'd have some crazy ping.
I'm so impressed with the time it took us to actually do the swap. If you plan and have a couple friends to help the swap shouldn't take you more than 5 days, maybe even less. I had to wait for parts so it took me longer. I know know that the throttle sensor DOESN'T just hook right up and that you need to buy a 3 prong male connector (talk about that later in a tech article I'm putting together).
Tim thinks he's going to be faster than me with my peg leg. I think he's got a run for his money even with my peg leg 3.08. I'll take it easy off the line when I go to the track so don't think my posted times are what the CAR can do (cough Eric cough) but rather what I feel like doing.
Post what you think I'll run in the 1/4.
I'm thinking 13.8 as is. My mods are in my sig.

first off, congrats on the swap!

what did you use for headers, arnt the vortec heads different?

what are you using for programming? doesnt that different of an engine require a dramatically different program from the 305TBI.

i always wanted that ZZ5 385 cratemotor.

Tim, you're going down .
The vortec heads don't have anything different with the exhaust side just the intake. It's a smart new design that only takes 4 bolts a side and they're all level to the ground, makes for and easy installation.
FastBroker, give me some credit, I'm not going to beat on it. I'm not as dumb as you look . Besides, my rear is an open 3.08.
I have a few things I need to get before nationals. In order of importance:
  • 3" cowl lift off hood
  • 3.73 posi
  • LCA relocation brackets
  • Torque arm
  • MSD ignition with rev control
  • PAINT JOB with a few layers of clear coat

JP, can you give me the part# of the stewart stage II water pump, I need one too.

How did your hood clearance turn out and what are you doing for an air filter set up till you get your new hood.

...and if you could post the part numbers and where you got them from for the TPS connector/adapter and any other connector/adapters you need for the Holley swap.

Much appreciated!

I don't have the TPS adaptor part number yet but I'll get it (still using nails and zip ties as a female to female).
Steward stage 2 water pump part #:23123 23123HP
The paint job is good for a few hundreths - aerodynamics .

I have a lot of picture posted and am in the process of putting together a TBI engine swap tech article. It seems like these articles are all the rage right now .

Snuf is the guy building a new TB. I needed a unit right away so I just forked up the $310 for the holley unit.
