Crankcase Breather

I'm looking at getting a K&N breather to go with my K&N Open Element. I'll be getting a non shielded one, but don't know which one to get. Push in? Clamp On? 1-3/8? 1-1/2?

Thanx

I'm not really sure, but my best guess would be that a push-in filter would be fine. It should be something like a 1 1/4" hole. What size K&N open element are you going with and where are you getting it from?

I think push in one would look better. I just put my generic $3 chrome one back in. I had taken it out because I thought it would be too hot or something touching the heater coolant lines. Then when I realised the valve covers are just as hot, I couldn't remember where I put it. So I finally took out that pipe that went to the stock cleaner and I put the push in breather there.

I got a non drop 14X4 K&N air cleaner from summit. I haven't put in on yet (waiting on my cowl hood) and getting everthing together so I have it to put it all on at once. I guess a 1 3/8 push in will work. Now to put that summit 10% to work.

I tried all kinds of breather but could not get any to push in. Also I had to many wires and stuff in the way. I had to rubber band a filter over the old pipe. I was wondering what all you guys are using for breathers that have the stock covers

I don't have a part number but on my 92' they make breathers that are made to fit into the PCV/breather graumets. The actual hole is only 3/4" across or so. I sat up at Red Rooster trying everything they had for push in ect. Nothing, so then we called K&N and asked, they gave us a part #, thats what I ordered. I'm sorry I don't have it but hopefully this will point you in the right direction.

getting breathers to work on stock valve covers is a pain and kinda pointless youd probably want to just leave the stock system alone cuz its fine

That is what I ended up doing. I had to rubber band a filter over the pipe though and it looks kinda rough.

The stock system is not fine. The point of the breather is to replace the tube that goes from the valve cover to the stock air cleaner. When you go to an open element you have that tube sticking out of the valve cover. Some people just leave it there, like how I had for a while, or put a little K&N on the end. If its possible for that tube to be pushed on the valve cover, then its possible to push a breather on there. Take the tube out, go to the local part house and make sure the breather is the same diameter. That's what I did. My breather came with a new rubber piece to go onto the valve cover but I just used the stock one.
