Question for the pro's (and not so pros)
when I put the NOS plate in, I decided to attempt the adj. FPR mod. Being that it was late and I felt like crap I just said F* it and put it back together. There is a circle rubber gasket under the whole "cup assembly". Actually the FPR sits right on it (I can't remember exactly anymore). When I was blowing everything out (after cleaning up a little) this old POS broke apart into 3 pieces and flew away. I put the assy together w/ out it b/c no fues or anything runs through there. I'm I ok like this or what????
that is just a little sock that they put on in case the tower is a touch out of tolerance. if the fpr has no signs of rubbing on it you can just ditch it.

there is less than 1mm of clearance there. i think it is safe to say that nothing harmful can get in and weave its way down to the motor.

If it's ok to have 1mm pieces of dirt going through your motor, leave it off.
NOT! What is the matter with you guys? IT HAS TO BE THERE!!! Next time you drive down the road and notice it's dusty out, just think of your pistons/rings/valve seats/etc. WOW. There is a delta pressure at the hole, too, which WILL SUCK STUFF IN!!!
I guess if you want to continually re-hone your cylinders, you may have something there!!! heee heeee

No, just remove the air cleaner, start 'er up, rev it to 2000rpm or so to crack the throttle blades a little, then, using your hand, drop some sand down into the the TBI bores.
Let me know what happens. As Karl Spackler would say, "It's no big deal?".

Give FastBroker a break. He's just trying to save all of us some grief. It's no fun having to do work on an engine thats not performance or maintenance related. As easy as it is to put something in there or cover the hole up it sure would be a waste to have a thing like that cause problems. Has anybody looked at the top of their manifold lately? If your not into detailing you engine compartment every week you will see a lot of things like sand and dirt that is only a few inches away from this little 1mm vacuum cleaner. Just my two cents.

Just thought I would throw this in. For everybody that has made their fpr adjustable there is the same problem and maybe worse. When you drill out the bottom of the fpr to get at the screw to make it adjustable you also open the tbi to the outside thru the fpr. Might be a good idea to put some silicone in there to seal it up. Just enough to seal it not to much. This wouldn't affect being able to adjust it in any way.
