Make my 305ci TBI do 12's and win a dollar! =D

I've got a 1992 Camaro RS, 305ci TBI...now....I was going to do som performance mods within the next month, which include a SLP cold air induction kit, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, 125 HP NOS kit, TBI spacer, MSD 6A ignition, MSD Timing Asjustor, Dynomax headers, Edelbrock hi-flow TBI, Hypertech Performance chip. What else can I do to make this thing break into 12's? Or, might that all do it? Keep in mind this is an automatic. Thanks in advance :P

What do you mean?

I'm fortunate I can do all this so soon, but high school graduation provides a fistful of cash

You'll need:
Lower control arms with relocation brackets if you lower and use slicks.
Good gear ratio, at least 3.42 and posi unit.
A torque arm would also help you plant the power. The key to a 12 second 1/4 mile isn't all about power, it's more about the 60' than anything. You'll want to hook and rip out of the hole, best way to do that is to get the suspension, tranny, gears, posi, and lighten up the car.

I heard nitrous likes 2.73 and that's what it's staying at because I'm not doing a whole differential job thingy :P

Transmission: fixed the 700r4 again!
i like the mods list but i also agree with the facts about upgrading the rest of the drivetrain as well to handle all that power. espically rear end and lca's. until the power you make hits the ground your not goin anywhere.

I agree with improving the drivetrain. You can say goodbye to that stock tranny if you plant enough power to run 12's. atleast put a stall converter and a shift kit in the tranny so you can get a few fast runs out of it before it blows.

------------------
*1989 RS
*Red, Daytona Turbo fiberglass hood, chrome 16x8 IROC wheels
*355 CID
*TPI ported plenum, SLp siamesed runners, Edelbrock high flow intake
*Edelbrock TES Headers (getting SLP 1 3/4 this summer)
*Richmond 3.73
Modded 700-R4, 2800 stall converter
NO recent time slips.

the hook will be key. from the way it sounds you will have the power to get hte mph you need to run a 12, but you won't get much of it to the ground.
figure you need about a 1.75-1.79 60ft to get it done and 103-107 mph through the traps. you can get mph anywhere you want. the best 60ft i have ever seen a peg leg do was like 1.95.
you need suspension in your life, even if you just go to a salvage yard and pick up a posi rear witht he same ratio it would help a lot.

I also agree that you will need to get an all new heavy duty drivetrain, a racing duty transmission, torque converter, drive shaft, 12 bolt posi rearend, boxed or new tube lower control arms, torque arm and slicks will be needed to run 12's, the stock parts will be toast after a few 125 HP hits of NOS. And don't forget frame connectors to keep the body from twisting into a pretzel.

I am assuming you will be spending about $1200-$1500 on these mods? If this is so why spend all that money and still have only around 250hp? i just bulit a full roller 355ci sbc and I did it for less than $1500 and I took it to Kippley racing engine's and they dyno'd it at exactly 434hp and 398ft/tq!!! I just took it to the union the other weekend and with my bfg drag radials i ran a 11.56@109.8 in my 86z28 with no sub frames or anything or that sorts!!!!

That's great STUB25, but I would suggest you invest in some good subframe connectors or pretty soon you will be wondering why all of a sudden your doors won't line up anymore and are hard to close!!!`This has happened to several friends cars that put high HP engines in them.

I'm going to have to settle for 13's. The car is in excellent condition but already has 80K miles on it, and I'm putting this stuff in for fun...I don't want to do a differential job, and I'm not putting slicks on it; I don't have THAT much money and it's a daily drive vehicle, so...

Yeah, I think I'll set the NOS kit to 100 HP and do the other mods...then I'll get one of those MSD RPM switches so it shuts the NO2 off when I switch gears, this way everything will last longer. :P

I guess...13's will be fine. Then I'll buy myself a 4th gen SS. =D
