Open element air cleaner for L03

Just wanted to know what set up works best to change a stock air cleaner to an open element air cleaner...I've seen Moroso, Edlebrock, K&N....I need to know what tools to use and what to unplug ect ect...will this affect smog certification????? And also does Flowmaster make a 40 series muffler with dual outlets..if so what is the part number???? Ive looked high and low and can only find the single outlet style....Thanks

the open element is not legal so keep your stock assembly handy come test time.

Open el's are Illegal? Where? Huh i never heard that, oh well nobody ever checks in this part of my state anyway. I mean, it really dosen't effect any smog stuff at all at least not in any way that i can think of right now. I hate the concept of visual inspection, it should be sniff test only IMO but i won't get started.... we aren't here to read my rablings about the govenrment we're here to talk about cars

in CA you can't legally replace or add anything besides a stock-replacement part without an E.O. exemption number that can be verified by a smog referee come test time.

ok, but do they make a "crossflow" or transverely flowing muffler with dual tips on oposing sides????? I think that looks better than the dual tips on one side..even though you make more power that way....
